A few interesting links on split grip. I know the source of some of the videos may not be well received here. I am more curious about the content.

Curious about the lack of follow through with this style. I am sure I have read the ball and bat are connected for only 1-2 milliseconds or something like that. I have read that the goal of hitting would be to transfer all of the energy into the ball at contact. So does the lack of follow through as the speaker puts it matter? Why? Why not?

Just another buzzword that this guy works with. Holding it like an axe? stopping the swing 2/3 of the way?? May help weaker strength hitters, but if it was really practical, everyone would be doing it including baseball. yes the part with the hips is true for ladies, as that's where 96% of them get their power through the ball, but stopping the swing, Nah....

I've developed a hitting system called FTP HITTING DYNAMICS. One portion of the system, uses split grip, but its not the where all end all, there are other components that work in conjunction with it. I do not agree that you should stop the swing after impact. I've test driven the whole system the last year, with phenomenal results, three kids led their college team , h.s. Play went from .220 to second team all district. ALL got significant inrease in average and power.

FAR EASIER to master then RVP. Four lessons the whole system is in place, and then some maintenance, if bad habits. It is geared to the composite bats...that said three of top five major leaguers all time were split grip

I'm going to experiment with my daughter and try splitting her grip. She used to do it naturally and I have told her not to because I always thought (in my head anyways) it probably takes away power because it seems like you're increasing the size of the pivot point reducing the ability to whip the bat. I never knew a split grip technique was actually taught and purposely used by some players.

Goes to show there are lot of ways to swing a bat. If it worked for Ty Cobb...

My dd uses a split grip. It is something she just recently started doing and it hitting very well with it. She said she has better bat control and it is more comfortable.
