I know everyone is chiming in on the Northmont loss - as an upset - but Northmont never had control - Mason had 8 hits with runners in scoring position for 5 innings - Northmont only got the 2 runs when the umpires walked 3 in a row in the 3rd. Northmont had 3 hits with runners that never went passed 2nd base. TALENT ON BOTH SIDES - but the right team won! Sorry Northmont - this isnt a diss - just stats give the real story!!
Jess is very good pitcher - Fisher on first - Those ballets lessons are really paying off - great splits!!!
good luck to all girls!!!!
GO COMETS!
My wife and I made the comment after the game that Mason was the better team, but Northmont was right there to win it and should have. I can point to several plays that made a difference, too, but walks are a part of the game. I can say that a ball that is short hopped by the Mason third baseman who double plays the girl on first was a huge play that was miscalled by the umpire, but I am not.;& Bottom line, two good teams played and Mason won a game that could have gone either way.
Good luck to Mason.
FYI, Northmont returns Jess Clutter, Kayla Woodard, their CF, LF, SS, and their EH. CLutter, Woodard, and Lander, the CF are all juniors, while the other three were all freshmen. Those were six of the top seven hitters for the Northmont varsity this year. Throw in a JV team that lost one game, and was heavily influenced by a strong freshman class, including one freshman that had 11 over the fence homeruns this year, and I think it is safe to say the future looks pretty good for the Bolts. Looking forward to seeing some of these teams in the future from the Cincy area. Those close games are somewhat nerve racking, but still a lot of fun.
Look for Wayne to be a real strong Dayton area team next year also. Lots of talent returning and well coached too.
