Stay in Softball - fundraising t shirt (new update #2)
In addition to SIS's recent used softball equipment drive, we have also designed a t shirt that we will be selling to raise funds for SIS.
The design that was selected is shown below. They are $15 and will be available in a few days on our website (www.stayinsoftball.com). The proceeds for this t shirt will go to our player assistance fund, free clinics (such as the one we did in Cleveland) and other similar assistance for teams and players.
An example of one of the players that SIS will be helping through its player assistance fund is a 12 year old player named Kennedy. She recently had one of her legs amputated and needs a special sports prosthetic so she can get back into playing softball. We are also looking into how we can help another younger player who has cancer.
With regard to the player assistance fund, in order to make the best use of our funds and to assist as many players as possible, we have decided that we will give priority to players who already have a team (or other group) assisting them or already have a fundraiser planned. That way, we can assist that effort instead of starting from scratch. A great example of this was the first player we assisted: a Coventry Fury player whose mother has cancer. The Fury already planned a fundraiser. We assisted with monetary donations and two raffle items (Demarini CF7 and basket). The team's fundraiser ended up raising over $15,000 which was far more than we could have done on our own. We will also strive to assist these players in ways other than providing monetary donations.
