Stingrays tournament team selection announcement!!

So true buuuuuuut after leaving SWO and playing all over and beating top OHIO teams that mattered and beating teams on our schedule outside OHIO life changed. Toooough schedules is all that is important. Winning will work itself out. Preparing these girls is hard to do with proper motivation and not getting hung up in details such as one event. We even made the decision to not even put into Stingrays till we were ready (for 2 years for sure of the years you've mentioned, Kavin and I both). So, some of those years were a very conscious decision to not even waste Stingrays time with our application for we knew we had to change course which bettered us overall, not just for one event. Most don't know that is why we didn't apply. So, we marched on and shot for events bigger than Stingrays. And folks, don't get hung up on Stingrays. There are many many many great events to get into besides this. Stingrays is very nice (partially because they run the heck out of it and its close) and I know Ken's 98 Static team is very happy to of gotten in this year! They are pumped!

Be real, be obvious, and keep your complaining to a minimum because that club of "they do this and that" just may harm you.

Like Where?? For this weekend if you didnt get in, youre stuck with also rans. With Colorado the week before, and Atlanta after, it ****s that we now have to probably venture farther to find a good tournament now. Any suggestions?

not sure. More generalizing and not speaking to "weekends" of venues that are available. Trust me, my DD is all over the country. It's a mega summer after this past fall. "Its temporary...", what I keep telling my wallet.

Which do you think would be better in tournaments - Loudonville or Indy Crush Showcase? I have been to Indy Crush and it was decent but never been to Loudonville. Been to Stingrays before to but cannot seem to get back in.

probably comes down to what coaches are there and the teams playing. Compare prior team lists (if that's all ya got) and see who attended... couple that with your players college lists and go from there. Crush pull in some pretty good teams from what I hear.

The Stingrays coach list below is from last year.

If your players have an interest in any of these schools your best bet "if not attending stingrays" is to go to Recruitfest.
Naturally; the ladies need to do their part to get interest but it is much easier for college coaches to make the move between fields/parks from these two events.
From our past experiance with teams that attended both events we had coaches attend both to look at players.

The NFCA camp will be at Berliner Thursday as will may of the players that will be at Stingrays and Recruitfest. A lot of the teams attending Recruitfest could be in Stingrays so comp should be equal or better than the other local events.

Like Les stated... this is only one weekend... If you are looking for the same college interest as Stingrays you have events like Best of Best, Lasers, GAPSS and ASA Dayton Metro... attend one or two of these and you will get the same exposure opportunities as long as the ladies do their part to get interest.

If you are a 16U team the ASA state tournament in Findlay will bring in many from this list as well to check out the talent.

Les, 100% correct... my girls played up last year as a 98 at 16u, we applied and did not get in .. in fact we have always had a hard time getting 16u/18u teams in. Last season we played all the other tough 16u tourney's - lasers, gapss, PGF qualifiers, etc, then went to both the FL D9 and MS D9 events in November and did well. Even after we had sent in our reg, I emailed Rudy updates on the D9's, etc and when we were accepted into Sparkler and then Atl Legacy I sent those in to him as well. As Rudy said in one reply - "keep building your case..." Lastly, I included in our registration packet snippets from college coach emails asking about our team/players to show we had a solid list of colleges following our team.

Our 18u Gold coach did same and it paid off for both our teams. I would suggest any team take the same approach, build your resume this year all you can...

Likewise, neither did we. We did get accepted into Lasers and GAPSS though. I guess it's Buckeye Showcase for us then. Like the old song goes,"2 out of 3 ain't bad".
Exactly for us!

I know you have to fill out an application for Lasers, but do they not take any teams that apply and pay?

Who has been turned away???? They come up with he fields, umpires and the balls. They will give most teams a chance to play. That's why so many games guarantee.

Lasers is a good value event that one cannot complain about the amount of games.
We got 9 and 10 the last two times we played at Lasers vs. strong comp.
Not sure how many (if any) teams were turned away but that did not take away from the quality of the event. We did not need a search party to find college coaches.

Yes, BUCKEYE SHOWDOWN "RECRUITFEST". Lots of coaches I spoke to said they would rather have a pool of hunreds of teams with 30+ fields all going even though half the field may not be recruitable, there is many more opportunity to find diamonds in the rough and still see top end kids.
