I have now been at two tournaments which games were played when Mother Nature did it's best to kill the weekend. I thought the crew at Shady Lane in N. Ridgeville worked a miracle at the Maple Leaf a couple of weeks ago, but the guys in Strasburg matched or beat that performance. They were all over the fields as soon as the rain hit and kept working them, sometimes between innings if needed. Bill (the TD) was committed to getting games in and his volunteers made it happen. They actually did get the 1st Championship Game in for all age groups and the 14U was won by Tigerlillies. In 12U and 16U, the losers bracket team won and forced the second game, which were held up by lightening and thunder and a final rain storm, which turned the fields into lakes large enough to float paper boats in.
This was and has always been a great tournament and a true community event which puts the kids playing the games first.
