Want to extend a big thank you to the Hawks for getting us fields to make the scrimmages today a huge success at Smith Park in Middletown. We had the DOOM, Static 98, Hawks Black 98, Hawks Gold 98, OFC Heat, Cincy Storm, and NKY Xplosion out there to compete. Was a bit chilly but I must say we had some fun as the heat came around. All pitchers got some work in and we got to play some quality games. I wasn't keeping score ;& but did notice some great competition amongst these very strong 11u teams. 12u will be fun and hope to see some of you guys this winter in some of the Indoor action! Again, thanks to your families and coaches that helped us simply play ball!!!:cap:

Was a great time was nice to see old friends and meet some new ones. The level f talent there was very good expect some great things from these teams this year. Almost seems worth it to do big friendlies like this instead of paying 300+ to play in some tournys. Oh and Les I think your catcher could beat us both in armwrestling. I would like to add as well thank you tgo the Hawks for getting the fields they were some nice fields.

if we can continue getting together like this we can do our own Spring league and save a ton of cash and be flexible while playing quality teams. I may look into that...not sure how much I want to take on but the costs are controlled better.

Yeah, arm wrestling might be a way for us to generate some funds for new uniforms. We got one that can do some damage:lmao:.

Good seeing you guys too!!!

Les, keep us (Liberty Blazers 98) in mind for some of this future action. My contact info is teadams@microsoft.com and 513.256.3595. This will be our first season as a Select team and I am attempting to build a network with a number of coaches.

Hi Lester, sorry for the slow reply --- my wireless went down

Yes we are out of Lakota. We were the LSO Dominators 10U "A" last year. We went 30-1 in SOGFSA play and 42-8 last year. We decided to move up to Select for next season. We are a young team with currently all 1998 birthdays.

Last year there were only 2 teams that we played that we didn't hang with and that was the Static and the Ohio Ice, but both games were good learning experiences for us.

Please keep me in the loop with ad-hoc tourneys and leagues; especially with the young 12U teams.

Les - I agree that this would be an excellent low cost alternative to a spring/fall leagues going forward.

I nominate Les to be the "Commish" and chief. who all will second the motion??

I'll second that. Les for Grand Poobah. There were 7 select teams there and with Coach Teas team its kinda nice to have 8 11u teams in SWO.

Well I motion to vote OFC Heat's head coach to be the grand marshall, TD, Grand Poobah the first, and Joint Chief of Staff, and grand coordinator...and since "he" (Mr Burbick) has the OFC name in his team name he should do it.... no other reason other than my home life would be significantly impacted if I take on another 'softball' related task.

And I know Dave knows what I'm talking about...

and those 7 teams were 11u only. Just think if we can get the all the 12u's in town to join in. Would be about 15 -20 teams. Hmmmmm... I know that has Doug's eyebrow raised up.

Oh yes I remember. Glad to see you coming into the field of play and best of luck. Keep your eyes open for activity in scrimmage talks. I have you added to my list of teams to scrimmage and I'm sure we'll be in touch. Again, glad to hear from you again.

We are going to shoot for NOV 1st as our next multi-team 11u friendly at Smith Park... same start time 10am - 3 fields, can take up to 8 teams this time. $20/game per team, 75 min games, no new inning after 65 min.

Email or PM me if you are interested. coachdoug@ohiohawks.com

Also, I can probably get fields for a summer league, keep it low cost, simple, and make it more about player development than winning a league ... Les and I will pull this together as well....

Thanks all, we had a great time Sunday as well.

We are going to do a RR tourney at SWOBAT (awesome indoor facility) on Dec 5th/6th... go to http://softball.swobat.org

Game times would be 1pm-1am on Saturday, and 8am-Noon on Sunday.

There is a a Marriott real close, we should get a great rate for the out of town teams families.

Teams will play (4) 55 min games on Saturday, and (1) 75 min on Sunday (we can pair teams up according to Saturday's results).

We (the Hawks) will have 2 teams in it, the Static will get in, we have invites out to the Dragons, Stingrays and Classics.

Cost will be $250/team for the 5 games, that will cover facility usage and umpires (1 per game) and we will get each girl that plays a cool T-shirt...

We will have access to a hitting and pitching lane w/ jugs as well for teams to hit and warm-up ...
