Does anyone have any ideas for preseason team bonding overnight trips that would include a softball type camp or activity. This would be for a high school team closer to pre-season.

The idea have wanted to try several times but school ball has interfered was having an overnight trip to Ohio State to watch the Lady Buckeyes play a couple games. My DD went to the big ten championship there last spring and she loved it.

Talking about Buckeye Sports, I've been to some volleyball games they even bring in a mini Buckeye Band that I thought was really a nice touch. I've never seen the band at any Softball Game yet!

On a serious note if I was starting a new program again and wanted the girls to bond most likely the last thing I would do is take them to a softball game.

But it would also depend on the age group as well. If the girls were under 14 years of age I would most likely try something like going out to movies maybe bowling then end the day with a camp fire. Then during the camp fire have each girls make up a scary storys. I'm sure some may thinks it's sounds goofy but that most likely would be my game plan.

If the girls were over 14 years of age. Girls were loaded up and going to the mall.

Many outdoor camps such as Camp Kern (YMCA) and others offer team building activities such as rope courses, team challenges, wall climbing etc. I know there is a course at Ohio University. Not sure what they cost.

I thought OP was asking about ideas for a high school team to bond............
Cause there really isn't much of a Pre-season for Travel Ball in the summer.....school ball ends & travel ball begins...........

The ideal bonding trip for Travel teams each fall would be to enter the Ohio Thunder Fall Classic & take the team to Kings Island's Halloween Haunt in the evening!!!!

My DD just did a late team bonding trip with her high school volleyball team. They didn't get a chance preseason, so they did it now. They went to South Park Mall, went to the movies, and then spent the night at a very nice Mom's house :) My DD isn't typically a mall kind of teenager, but they really had a ton of fun. She said it was one of the best times she ever had - so that would be a good thing to do with a high school softball team and it wouldn't cost too much.

Michigan sometimes has a small band at their softball games. I'm not positive, but I believe it is an alumni band. It certainly adds a lot of fun and excitement to the atmosphere! :)

It is their Alumni band. They really hype up the crowd! Awesome atmosphere to play in.

Our team does bowling paid for by the boosters. Girls spend a couple hours with each other and coaches, have pizza and goof around. DD loved it.

DD's high school team did a scavenger hunt around town (3 senior drivers) then back to one of the parent's houses for a bon fire/movie/sleepover.

2012 and 2013 our JV & Varsity went to camp Kern in Oregonia OH. They had zip lines and several other team building exercises the ladies really enjoyed it.
Parents brought up lunch and the event lasted 6 to 8 hours with travel. I want to say 8am to 3pm

Heard some great ideas. Whatever you choose....TAKE THEIR PHONES AWAY. If you don't they will get distracted and you won't achieve your goal.

The original post asked about a softball type activity.

At the local catholic grade school the 5th graders do a 3 day/2 night trip to YMCA Camp Fitch (northwestern PA right on Lake Erie) and when my oldest was in 5th, I chaperoned the trip (no male teachers) they had some team bonding/building things there. Things that required working together, logical thinking that was created to find out who the leaders "might" be. I thought it was really cool and very interesting to see who the kids let lead them at times.
