What is the average in the 14U - 16 U Range? Is it normal practice to be asked for all fees up front, or at acceptance? Is a payment plan normal?

It will vary from team to team but it is not uncommon to be ask for all up front, if able.

The team will need to send in tournament fees for each tournament that they are applying for at the time of applying so the amount of cash needed in the checking account needs to cover all of the tournament fees and the uniform/equipment costs.

If you are unable to give all up front, talk to the coach about a payment plan.

I have seen many times where a players parents want the coach or team to be their banker...

Perspective players/parents need to understand the terms of payment and these should be set out at tryouts or the time of offer. Those entering the world of travel sports should know there is out of pocket expenses especially; if the team is looking to get into showcase events that requires early registration and payment that must be paid by the end of December.

That said we always did a payment plan and I fronted the fall expenses so we had a schedule ready to go with uniforms for fall...

Right over here!
Most team fees should be paid by 1/1/17. Depending on schedule $600 on low end $1500 high end. If you want to get into exclusive turnys you gotta pay early. 1/2 in aug/sept other half by January is normal. I know in different parts of the country they do monthly plans based on how long the season is. Not as common in Ohio.

The other big question to ask is corprate sponsorships? Banners? Fundraising? Many times these types of things greatly reduce the money out of pocket.

The org I was with always had their commitment fee ($350) due upon signing all the papers as parents swearing they would not act like they did LOL. but after that, there was a $150 monthly payment due, and we did not require a payment in Jan. to help elevate the holiday stress, but all fees were to be paid in full as of 2/1. In a perfect world, everyone could afford to pay the entire fee up front, but we don't live in that world.

I like the commitment fee down, then the scheduled equal payments for about 5 months, I think they are always due on the 15 of each month. My son's BB team does that.
