Teams of the Week - The Softball Zone Radio Show

Some of you may be aware that Ricky Moorehead who started this site many years ago and continues to administer and support it, started up The Softball Zone radio show a few weeks back here on Tuesday evenings from 8-10. I'm honored to be one of the co-hosts on the show, which also includes Joe Abraham, founder of the Buckeye Heat and current head coach at Hillsdale College in Michigan, John Kelley from Softball Smarts in San Diego, and others. I know Ricky has been working hard on fixing a few minor technical bugs, and getting down the show's format, and I'd encourage you to listen in live or after the fact. Link ... TalkShoe - Call - The Softball Zone Radio Show

Anyhow, one of the features on the show each week has been a "Team of the Week". The last several weeks I've been doing my reporting on college teams I've seen play here during the spring season, but I plan to start turning my attention to travel teams soon. I am not coaching a travel team myself this summer and am based in Northeast Ohio, and hope to get out to a tourney in the Cleveland-Akron-Canton areas most weekends (though I also hope to get down to the Cincinnati area at least once this summer to visit my buddy Andrew and see his daughter Ashe play!). I much prefer to recognize teams that I've actually seen play. And your team doesn't need to be considered one of the top teams in the state either! If you coach a team that you'd like to see recognized, let me know here and/or PM me on your schedule and I'll try to look you up sometime especially if or when you're here in NEO. At a minimum, we'll mention your team on the show, or you might end up as Team of the Week and/or we might even ask you to call in to the show to be interviewed live!

Anyhow, I look forward to meeting some of you this summer!

Have heard from a few teams so far, and am going to be talking briefly about one on this Tuesday's show. By the way, the team I featured last week, Muskingum University, won the OAC Conference Championship today, and secured a berth to the NCAA regionals. Good karma? ;)

Oh, and I see that the team Ricky featured and who we had on the show, Thunder Elite 10-U, went 5-0 and won their tournament this past weekend ... just sayin' ...

I am going to Chicago this weekend to visit my son and 2 young grandchildren, but would still love to hear from other travel teams who I could come and watch in the Northeast Ohio area in following weekends and feature on the radio show as teams of the week. PM me with your schedule if you're interested.

I'm going to try to get over to the Maple Leaf tourney likely this Sunday around noon or so (that's lunch time, right?). I know teams will be in bracket games at that time so some teams may already be gone, but if there are any teams interested in being Teams of the Week (or any teams using my wristband systems!) who expect to be playing then, let me know here or PM me so I can decide which fields I wil be heading to.

Thanks to all who replied to me this past week ... I did get to the Maple Leaf on Sunday, and got over to the 14-U and 10-U venues, but unfortunately ran out of time to get to the 12-U as well, so my apologies to the two 12-U teams who messaged me. I did select a 10-U team I watched play, and I talked to their coach last evening, and they will be featured tonight. This next weekend, I probably will be going to North Ridgeville though I am open to other options in Northeast Ohio as well. Please let me know if you're interested.
