temporary bases

just wanting to get a feel for what u guys think about the safty concerns with tempory bases. just dont understand why we should lower standards for fall ball

You mean like the flat rubber bases you get as a set in a box at the sporting goods store?

If so that is kind of lame

yes the kind with a hole in the middle for a stake, they couldnt even even use that

Well if the game is played in a very laid back manner and sort of just fun and training I guess would be fine but if is played hardcore competitive that is very lame.

We had to use them Sunday.... No problem Fall ball IMO is for fun and working on the little things. You have to take a step back and let them play for the fun and love of it sometimes. We do fall ball for that, away from their travel teams with different coaches and different positions. FOR FUN My youngest has been the only catcher on her team for the last three years and has cought 85% or more of the innings. Last Sunday she had two innings behind the plate. She had fun and played like it was a game, not like it was serious Sunday, or a win or go home game, just a game. I wouldnt call it lowering our standards, I would call it relaxed. Not one parent or coach had a complaint, they just asked why. We were all given an answer and that was good. It was good being at the ball field and not one arguement. 1 LBR call, and the ump explained the rule to a couple people after the inning, it was a fun day in the sun, at the park. I know the pegs will be fixed and we will have normal bases for the next game.

I know fall ball is to work on your game. the problem is base running is the most important part of the game, if your not good at touching all four your not going to score. so if your not working on that have fun next summer!!!! the sad thing is you cant work on it with those bases

I absolutely hate those bases. I have seen way too may turned ankles and injured knees from them not staying put when a girl plants.
