  1. Media Coverage: Limited media coverage compared to other sports makes it challenging for fans to follow teams and players closely.
  2. Visibility: Lack of visibility in mainstream sports culture may mean fewer opportunities for exposure and fan engagement.
  3. Perception: Some people may perceive softball as less exciting or less competitive compared to other sports, leading to lower interest from potential fans.
  4. Tradition: In some regions, there may be strong traditions favoring other sports, making it difficult for softball to break into the mainstream.
  5. Marketing and Promotion: Limited marketing and promotional efforts for girls' fastpitch softball events can result in lower attendance and less fan engagement.
  6. Infrastructure: Inadequate infrastructure for hosting events or lack of professional leagues can hinder the growth of a fan base.
Addressing these factors through increased media coverage, marketing efforts, and promotion could help in building a stronger fan base for girls' fastpitch softball.

I have seen more College Softball on TV in the last two years than ever. I think it is getting more coverage, especially in a few weeks once playoffs start.

I would agree, woman's sports in general are not getting as much traction as men's sports, but it is increasing. I see more WNBA games and LPGA on TV. Plus with ESPN+ you can get a ton of softball at the click of a button. We have a friend playing at RMU and we can watch her games on ESPN+ like 90% of the time.

I believe Fastpitch in general is a regional acquired taste. With all due respect, college is what is attracting the girls to keep playing. Not pro or Olympic, not World Cup stuff as it takes so few athletes to participate. You know what I mean. Look at the college attendances to games. Anyone can find a seat at an Ohio State game anytime. Tenn. or Oklahoma are normally sold out for the season in advance. SEC in general have near full stands every game. Not true with the Big 10. Promotion is needed to make this happen. That's not a priority at those universities. I just don't think they reach out to the communities, especially the young players like they could.
