Thunder Elite Organizational Tryouts 2016/17

THUNDER ELITE will hold organizational tryouts from Thursday August 4th to Saturday August 6th, 2016.


Athletes can tryout for a team individually or all the teams in their eligible division (e.g. 10u, 12u, 14u, etc.). Forms will be completed on the tryout date so please come early.


Thursday 8/4 - 6-9 PM for 10u, 11u, 12u

Athletes will be assessed on outfield, base running, hitting, fielding, attitude, intensity, and softball IQ
Pitchers and catchers should be prepared to stay later
Saturday 8/6 rain date is Sunday 8/7, same times

Coaches at all age groups will be named July 22nd.

Coaches for the 2016/17 season.

10U-'06 Crystal and Joe Obrien. This will be their 2nd year at 10u. Had a very successful year with a team made up of mostly 9year olds. 330-240-0934

11U- Charlie Mazella. Charlie is a non parent coach who brings 8 yrs of coaching travel ball to the organization. This team will be a mix of 11u/12u players. 330-233-6653

12U- Vic Cawthorne. Vic is currently an Asst Coach on the Thunder Elite '04 team. This team will play in a mix of local and Statewide Tournaments. 724-699-7291

13U-'03 Joe Nay. Joe is going into his 5th season as a head coach of Thunder Elite. He has many years of experience coaching and is a Certified Trainer of the Positive Coaching Alliance. 330-501-5933

14U-'02 Andrew Lattanzio. This team will look to compete at a State/Regional level playing a mix of tournaments and showcase style events. 330-787-2911

15U-'01 Nikki Mott. Nikki is entering her 5th year as a coach in the organization. 330-978-3125

16U green- Mike Sheely.Mike will be starting his 3rd year coaching fastpitch and returns to Thunder Elite after two years with the NEO Freeze organization. 330-306-8221

16U Showcase- David Vukovich. This team will look to attend both Fall and Summer showcases with the goal of getting their players in front of college coaches. 330-984-2704

16u Green has just completed its 1st season as a team and is made up of mostly 01 players. We intend to play a local schedule next season with at least 1 over-night tournament...no more than 2. Thunder Elite 16U Showcase Team
Thunder Elite is fielding a 16U Showcase team ('00 and '01) for 2016-2017. The team will be playing a competitive schedule with 2-3 fall showcase/tournaments and 6-7 summer showcase/tournaments. We want to give our players the best opportunity to be in front of college coaches to showcase their skills. We will encourage our players to attend individual skills camps and expect them to work with the team, in small groups and on their own.


We intend to compete in some of the following: Top 100 Showcase (IN), Championship Fastpitch College Exposure Showcase (KY), Scenic City Summer Tournament (TN), Team NJ Summer Classic (NJ), Midwest Firecracker Showcase (IN), Atlanta Legacy Showcase (GA) and PGF Midwest Championship (IL).

Thunder Elite 06 just finished up with tryouts. Thank you to all that attended. We are still looking for a speedy utility player, and a pitcher to compete with our current #1, with plenty of mound time available. With 7 girls returning, we plan on playing a very competitive schedule going into our 2nd year together. Please contact head coach Crystal OBrien for a private tryout.
