About us
The Tigerlillies were formed nearly two decades ago by several Summit County area high school coaches. This past season, the 12U team played in the Youngstown Thunder Elite Sunday doubleheaders fall ball league, a six-game indoor winter league at Pinnacle Sports, near Montrose, a 14-game summer league in the Akron-area Summit Premier League, as well as seven weekend tournaments. Our team was comprised of half 11-year-olds and half 12-year-olds. For the 2015-16 season, we are looking to field 12U and 14U teams. We are committed to enabling players to play other sports. We do not play on Memorial Day or Fourth of July weekends. Our goal is to help players improve, prepare them to play in their next age group, and ultimately ready them to play for their high school teams.
Schedule
The Tigerlillies teams for 2015-16 will begin practicing in late August, a couple weeks ahead of the six weekend fall ball league in Youngstown, which runs through mid-October. The team then stops all organized team activities for about two months. We begin again with a weekly practice and weekly optional hitting session in an Akron gym. In mid-February, we begin our six-week indoor league at Pinnacle. In the spring and summer, we will practice outdoors and play about 8 weekend tournaments and likely enter an Akron-area league, either the Summit Premier League or a Wednesday night Jr. Racers league at Firestone Stadium and pony field. Typically, at least half of our tournaments are within a 20 to 30 minute drive of Akron and none are more than 1 hour. Below are the tourneys we played this past season:
1. Warren Champion Athletic Club 2. Mogadore ASA 3. Ohio Lightning Invitational in Green 4. Thunder Elite Perfect Storm in Youngstown 5. Summer Slam at Firestone Stadium and adjacent fields 6. Willoughby Reach for Starzz (rained out) 7. Summer Sizzler at Firestone Stadium and adjacent fields 8. Hope's Turn at Bat in Mayfield
Fees
Tigerlillies fees are $600 per player, with minimal fundraising. The bulk of these funds pay for tournament and league entry fees, gym rentals and two uniforms, a hoodie, helmet and bat bag per player. For an exact breakdown, see our team website, where we post monthly updates on expenses and revenue, so you can see where your money goes, as well as an annual budget for the team: www.leaguelineup.com/tigerlillies12u
