Haven't been on here in a while, I see lots of rants happening so I thought it was time for a rave. No this isn't a huge brag fest about the DD, just a content parent observation.
DD is now a college sophomore at D3 school in PA, fresh off a week in Fort Meyers, FL and home opener against a #12 ranked team-thankfully they aren't in our conference. Her record is currently 0-3 with 1 save, her batting average is under .200 but only 1 strike out and 4 rbi. She has already had more PA's than all of last season and nearly half as many K's as last year's total.
None of those numbers are amazing so you are probably wondering what there is to make me so content?
What I read daily during the Florida games gave me the impression that she is in a better place mentally this year. What I saw at the home opener is a more confident player than she was last year. DD started in the circle for the opener, giving up only 5 runs to an awesome team; she grounded out against a pitcher who has a 0.00 era and strikes out an average of 2 batters/inning.
So happy to see her growth and how she is recovering from a shaky freshman year!

Enjoy the trip, my DD is a senior in her last season. I was able to go to Florida to her surprise her and catch a half dozen of her games...what a blast

Did I mention that she started the season 0-6 and her team is in the top 50 in errors committed per game...in the nation. The pitcher staff just decided to post zero's and go at 'em. (currently she is 3-6)

She is a confidant young women ready to take on the world. We have softball to thank for a lot of that confidence. She learned how to risk defeat and win victories and to believe in herself and her team. Its been a heck of a ride.

Have a some fun along the way, her ERA doesn't define her but her toughness will pay off.
