Last night playing a hybrid softball/kickball game in the yard with the family it was 14u dd, 12u dd & 10u son vs. Dad, Mom, and 14u's boyfriend(Grrrr!). DD's pulled off a suicide squeeze. 14u dd bunted, mom went to field it, and 12u dd slid home wearing no long socks and gym shorts. Pulled off the slide holding an 8 week old kitten that had gotten in the way!

Uber, you missed your moment. You should have taken it like a man and donned the outfit with her , and then slowly converted her over to more "appropriate" gear? Once on skates, she would have stuck with it, and then realized that hockey players wear the gear they do for a reason! ;) :yahoo:

My dd is multi-sport athletic, a real tom boy on the diamond, on the basketball court, etc., but really kinda girlie off the court. I cannot fathom the need for 20 minutes to get the ponytail & "part" just ABSOLUTELY PERFECT, to the extent of being late (I hear Jeopardy theme in my head waiting to get out the door) ... just to get to the field and throw a batting helmet over it ... drives me nuts, ... but I'll keep her  :)

The perfectly straight part and the ponytail was caused more than a dozen flown blown wars at the manitou house MD

DD has a long history of Tom Boy activities, from mixing it up with the boys in Motocross and Football to hitting the links with dad currently.
She started to refuse to wear an Easter dress when she was four but; we finally got her back in one at eight and all the neighbors had to come out and take pictures of the event. Until last week that was the last time she had a dress on.
Now, the Tomboy stage may be over. She is in the oldest DD wedding this week and went to get a spray tan to cover up the softball tan, looking at pictures for a hair style and was fitted for a dress and has been practicing walking in heels the past few days.
Ahh the memories.

My dd was a complete tomboy until about 7th grade. She wore a new Aeropostale t-shirt to school that said "I got an A+ in shopping" on the front. Then some popular girl told her that "Dick's didn't count" and I have been spending lots of $$$ on girlie clothes ever since. Those tomboy clothes are so much cheaper!

All I can say is,, you've never seen a nose turn up faster than when my dd goes to buy a tournament T-shirt, and they're all pink.

lol i have a story...

So I'm watchin the softball world cup with my dad and it was the game where team USA wore the pink jerseys. We had been arguing about weither or not I should tryout for a team that was close to us (my current team is based an hr and a half away) for about a week. On paper the team looked good but they were PINK! So I finally saw my "way to victory" when he said "wow. they look kinda akward in pink..." I said "See! thats why Im not trying out for them! As good as team usa is even they look akward in pink!"

(by the way we were at a hotel this past weekend and me and my team friend were in the pool with a few girls from another team and we discussed how even if a pink team is AMAZING, people make fun of them behind their backs)

Have a girl on the team that is anti-makeup or anything girlie girl... so today I took the opportunity to get her going as I do with all the girls.

They were all taken turns puttin' eye black under each others eyes and I said "hey, are you puttin' on makeup"... she said no way, I got this at Dick's Sporting Goods.... LMAO!!!

What stories do you have that shows that your DD or player isn't some regular girl? This could be a fun one....

My Kid only seems to wear softball and Basketball T`s and stuff like that ...Hates PINK as well ... But is addicted to the Glitter Headbands lol....and when she "Cleans Up" Its a bit scary as a DAD ( Dang she IS a freakin Girl) ha ha.

also On the FLIPSIDE ...
My 14 yr. Old wanted us to let her go "TANNING" cuz she had WHITE LEGS (Actually he Knees were tan ...ha ha ha ..... as she only pulls up her shinguard/sliders when she Bats) So the Multi Colored Legs and RACERBACK Tan ... were an Irritation to her. So the "TomBoy" Shows she is an Actual "Girl" with the Female Vanity gene fully intact. btw the "Softball Tan" is hilarious... Most of the girls in everyday life Look like the have Dirty Knees. lol

Mine is also on the flipside of the tom boy thing. She has to have her hair just right, even if it only for going to her pitching lessons. This usually takes the entire 30 minute car ride, but if it doesn't, the leftover time is spent on a quick nap.
