Top Reasons DDs were late to a TOURNAMENT Game

OK, I may be the #1 reason my DD has been late to some games over the years, and am wondering how everybody else seems to always make their Fast Pitch schedules (Games, Practice, Training, Lessons,......) work with DWs schedule, three kids playing travel sports and somehow still be able to WORK as required.

IS IT JUST ME? lol

So, hoping this Poll will provide me validation whether I'm the only parent showing up late or if others out there are racing like maniacs from hundreds of miles away calculating distance by speed to figure out how many minutes early/late we are going to be, each time we get in the car.

WISH I COULD SAY I HAVE A #1 REASON FOR BRINGING DD LATE TO A GAME/TOURNEY OVER THE YEARS, BUT THERE JUST SEEMS TO ALWAYS BE SOMETHING BIZARRE AND NEW THAT KEEPS CHALLENGING US. GLAD 2009 is almost behind us. lol

- Got Lost, 2008 NSA Nationals in Columbus: Arrived 10 minutes after start of
.... game. YIKES! SORRY KAVIN! Still haven't purchased a GPS. (SANTA, PLEASE!)

- 2009 Stingrays, drove up Saturday morning to watch my DD's eyes pop out of her head as she opened the van hatch back... The LOOK in her eyes could only mean one thing.... HER BAT BAG IS SITTING IN THE DRIVE WAY IN CINCINNATI!!! THANK GOD for Sheri Anderson, who while I was already SPEEDING back home, found spare pair of cleats, glove, and other miscellaneous gear and called me as I was 20 miles into the return trip to cinci, to hear... "COME ON BACK, she is fine"! That was the best call I received all year. THANKS SHERI! BTW, POOR Doug Lenos, had to take the brunt of my frustration as I was driving 95+ MPH back towards Cinci leaving him a vmail venting about what just happened and asking my favorite questions, "SOOOOO, IS IT JUST ME"?

So, IS IT JUST ME? Or, do you OFCers have your own personal little trials and tribulations you're willing to share here about WHAT CAUSED YOU TO BE LATE TO A GAME.

Also, if not too personal or conflicting, wondering how your team/coach handled these situations, as we all know that TEAM means that we arrive on time.

Same thing happened with my dd when she was 10u. Drove 65 minutes to a tournament to open the trunk and find it was empty, only our chairs were there.

I drove home in the Bonneville SSEI (wife's car), picked-up the bag and made it back to the tourney before the 3rd inning of the first game. It was then that I realized how relaxing it is to drive as fast as you possibly can AND not get a ticket. LoL

Needless to say, we have not been late for a tourney since that day almost 6 years ago and we still double and triple check before we leave the driveway.

The 5 P's ... ;)

Why I can just picture/hear sounds coming from your Squadbay ..... A tumbling rattling trash can across the floor, .... "GET OFF MY RACK!!" ....

.... (((SemperFi springs from his bed as Mrs SemperFi stands over him in PT gear ... )))

.... Up in the morning with the rising sun ..... :yahoo:

One I'll never forget and a few I still can remember hearing:

CLASSIC: "Dog peed all over bat bag, had to clean my gear before leaving!" ;o)

Also:
Went to wrong ballpark (coach didn't convey park change to every player!)
Uniforms still in the laundry
Was to ride with other player, never picked up

10U DD's spikes were not in her bag (and she swore they were) and she only had her sliders on....dropped her off at field and ran to the nearest sporting good store- forgot what size shoe she wore - i had to call one of the other moms and had her ask to ask dd, and then sped back to the field. UGH- we double check the bat bag now- and 4 games in one day- yes she got blister!

OOH RAH SemperFi1977..never late myself..former Marine

had a bunch show up late because they left a tournament to get some grub. Well, the service wasn't in tip-top shape and everyone started showing up about 15 minutes in front of the next game.

was going to goshen in the fall WITH DIRECTIONS , only problem was the road was closed on the route I had drawn up, so I ask a cop at a 4 way stop " IS GOSHEN THAT WAY ??" Oh yeah says the cop --- 20 min in the middle of nowhere I ask another person who says " No Goshen is the other way" MD

Dan, northerners always try to steer southerns the wrong way....lol.

I know Atlanta Bus Driver that did the same thing to me at Nationals this summer. And like you twenty minutes aftwards, it was obvious I was closer to another state then the ball park... ^_^!.

Figure my Northern accent didn't help us much...^_!^
