Tournaments that College Coaches Attend

Iceblack29,

Many D-1 schools have a " recruit tournaments played" listing somewhere on there college websight. This listing is basically the tournaments that a particular school recruits at, and will differ according to the region of which the school is located. For example if you were a SEC/ACC school you would have basically the same listing, but the Rising Stars and Chattanogga Gold Diamond showcases would be substituted for Stingrays and Best of Best or if you were a Pac Ten/Big 12 school they may substitute the Hall of Fame and Ronald McDonald tournament for the one's in Ohio.

Thanks Bink but was just curious if other schools include specific tournaments.

Have been looking through the Big Ten & MAC schools and all of them ask what tournaments you have played in but only OSU's website included a drop down menu where those were the only options available. There's not even an area to write in other tournaments.

If a school has this on their site, then they are trying to send a message. And that message is, "IF YOU WANT TO BE SEEN BY US, THIS IS WHERE WE WILL BE. IF YOU ARE THERE, WE WILL LOOK AT YOU. IF YOU ARE NOT, THEN GET ON A TEAM THAT IS. Sincerely, Coach" It is also a data base filing system too. This way when they leave for one of those events, they can run a report of every girl who has sent them information and listed that event.

The most competitive teams look for the most competitive tournaments. And the most competitive players are on the most competitive teams. And coaches are looking for the most competitive players.

Recruiting is a game, it is not fair, no game is, but if you understand the rules and play by the rules, you can win. If you try to adjust the rules, or complain about the rules, you get left out.

Some events are starting to get more attention. Next weekend here in Savannah is the annual Southern Star. It is rising in respect. With 54 teams (18 teams are Gold) and over 50 college coaches expected to attend it will be pretty good. The Jax Storm event in Jacksonville, FL is always well attended by college coaches, last year they had close to 50, but it is not on the "national" radar.

In any situation, it is always best to reach the coach and find out where they go to look for players. Don't try to change their opinion, just find out where they are and get on a team that goes there. It works!
