travel ball vs school ball

Cincystorm you are correct that a player can get 25 or so more competitive games by skipping their school team and playing for an elite select program. ? Make no mistake that only the elite players, ?those with the finances to double the travel and associated league fees will play. ? ?This will hurt the game overall. ? ?The high school product varies from area to area but there are some players that play on your travel teams that play high school and don't win every game so someone must be playing against them. ? Players alway have a choice. ? It is a matter of degree. ? ?If players want to play year round softball with the highest caliber teams then they are free to tranfer to an area where they can. ? ?That may sound crazy but people go to northern Ohio from the Cincinnati are now it is just a case how far to take it. ? ?

It seems hard to believe that a few tournaments in place of the high school season is going to make or break players college chances. ? I don't think they forget all the wonderful things they are taught by their travel coaches in a few short weeks.

Lastly a state championship means at team has worked hard and gotten a little lucky to make that happen. ?To win the biggest of all the travel tourneys means you have paid the entry fees and collected a group of very good players and in the end had to have some luck too. ?

I admire the great teams like the ones I see you with and I think you are great coach. ? ?Playing travel instead of school will be great for your type of team but not most.

I would venture to say that 98-99% of travel ball players play HS softball. End of story. Let's move on to s subject that has not been beat to death.
