Just wanted to know if anyone knows of any travel teams that the girls don't play high school ball and continue to play the high level. High school ball is very painful to watch let alone play. Thanks for your help.

"High school ball is very painful to watch let alone play."

Speak for yourself. There are a lot of people who would disagree.

Travel ball is made of select players chosen by the organization. HS ball is a mix. Both can be very rewarding.

Have to agree with backstop here, cause we have a very good high school team. Saying that I think most of them play travelball.

As pay for play becomes more prevalent, and (PLEASE NOTE!!) "some" HS programs and coaches continue to provide a less than productive experience for their players, it would not suprise me to see some, spring select team options for players that are interested in that.

Please before you jump all over me for stating the obvious, I support this option as an alternative for the player that could possibly simply choose NOT to play for their HS team, and would like to continue to work on her skills with an occasional trip to a tournament. I consider dealing with and overcoming the adversities inherent in some HS programs to be training of a different sort both in softball and in life. Having said that if a player is not going to play at their HS, I would rather see them doing something, than nothing, I don't believe it is a "play HS softball or suffer the consequences" situation.

This year more than ever this topic has had a life of it's own, simply ridiculing anyone that suggests it or states that they consider their particular situation to be destructive rather than constructive, doesn't solve the issues, I am very happy for those of you that have what they consider to be a great situation, the fact is even on your teams and in your programs there may be players and parents that are very unhappy with the situation, and before you go there, anyone that will not admit that there are frustrating factors in some HS situations that have nothing to do with a players talent level or attitude, are either not well informed or simply ignoring the facts.

Again, I am really happy for you if you have a good productive situation or if you are a coach that believes you are doing things right, but the fact remains that until there are options for players in the spring and individuals can vote with their feet, there will be few changes in some HS programs, as far as I know it is not written on stone anywhere that HS Softball has an absolute and inviolate monopoly on spring softball in Ohio, if the need and the players are there it MAY happen.

Take this from someone who has gone through the selection process for college ball. You sit out of playing high school ball. Who do you play against? and when. Not enough players sitting out of high school ball to make it productive on our side of the Coast. Even though college coaches are not looking at high school games and stats, they are looking at who is dedicated to playing the most ball possible. You will get the most games from high school win or lose. So, be the most productive player on your team even if your losing. Tuff. yea!! Bad situation, make the most of it. Also, if you kid rocks, they will be playing varsity.

High School ball is about playing for you community. Varsity and even JV. Hard to watch, sure it is. But it is great when little 6 eyed susie gets the game winning RBI or steals home on a passed ball to get the win for a great game. It is what it is. I think this topic has been hit several times. You can only juggle according to the Ohio High School rules which in my opinion are in place for a very good reason.

If you did have a travel team of high school aged girls, you would have a hard time finding other competitive travel teams in Ohio. Most of the competitive players that you want to play against with your travel team are playing with their schools right now. You would have to go out of Ohio to other states that allow travel ball and high school ball at the same time. That's just the way it is currently right now in Ohio. If the situation changes, then maybe some of those athletes would opt to go travel instead of school, but I do not see it anytime in the near future.
