Well at any age group its nice to let the kids stay together as they get older. There are probably a large number who try and keep 8, 9, 10, 11 kids at the same age, then replace as they move up. Any "true" age group gets to say they are the low/high end of a age group. It also helps in evaluating who you are playing.
I don't if I can answer this cause we are in the 10 under division but we have 8 kids that are 06 and 2 kids 07. Typically only santion you have to worry about your age is USSSA I believe. If you are 11 you still have to play 12 and up, so I don't why coaches/organizations call themselves 04/05/06 and so on.
Played a ton of USSSA at 11 and 12. Does not matter you still 12U. True 11U tournaments are rare, I mean Yeti rare. You hear about them but never see them..
If you go to USSSA's website and do a team search for 11u teams in Ohio there are about 12 registered through USSSA.
There may be more in Ohio but those are the ones registered as 11u and should be true 11u teams since they have to submit their roster online with birth dates.
My team has been together since we were 8u and we are now13u. We decided early on not to take anyone older than an 03 birthdate. It allows us to try and keep most of the girls together as we moved up each year from 8u. Teams always lose 1 or 2 girls each year but this limits the team from losing girls to age.
Miami Valley Xpress 05, Ohio Outlaws 05, Ohio Hawks Gold 05, Ohio USSSA Pride 05, Ohio Storm 05, Valley Force 05, Wizards Gold 05, and Ohio Bulldawgs Elite 05 are some of the ones I know are a true 11u.
Thank you for all the answers. I was just curious cause i seen on other post people talking about other 05 teams and was just curious if they were a true 05 team.
