Whats the closest event to a " true" national champ ?

Just curious , wasnt that long ago that ASA/USA nationals winner was a certain best of the very best . Now that PGF is keeping a lot of west coast teams out west who would you say is the closest national tourney to be able to have its winner declare " we were national champs " There are so many "alphabet soup world series " champs out there its near a joke. I'd say PGF ? But would like other opinions .

It's still PGF, but it's more muddled than I can ever remember. Teams are so scattered that I'm not even attending a Nationals for the first time in my college coaching career.

Now I will qualify my answer and say that I don't see the "Elite teams" in the country play, but Joe can give feedback since he probably knows who the names are.

The USA Elite Select has excellent teams and seems to me to have the best chance to steal away all of the top teams that aren't directly affiliated with PGF.
