Coaches,
What qualities/attributes or no no's do you look for in a player trying out for your team at the 10U level?

At 10u I would say qualities/attributes would be.....
*athletic ability
*solid base of fundamentals
*speed
*attitude and effort...ALL coaches love a hustler
*good parents

I would say the red flags would be...
*showing up late to tryouts or forgetting your equipment
*parents who cannot control themselves at tryouts will be a problem later
*bad attitude or lazy, player not willing to do what is asked
*get mad and pout if a mistake is made
*crying during tryout

I agree with the above as well. To me, the attitude was always the biggest thing. With good attitude comes good hustle/work ethic. No one comes out of the whoomb as Jenny Finch. That's why we do this right? Help these kids develop. I also do not like parents that carry their kids gear, tie their shoes, etc. They won't be in my duggout and I'm not gonna tie any shoes that are not on my feet.

This is coming from a parent..
During try out - Sit down....Shut up.... Enjoy...
After try out (usually) .. Ask all the questions you can about the organization.
