Tryout maddness

I really wish these were easier to sort thru. I am so tired of making it thru a page trying to write down times and dates only to have others bumped up and then I have to go back to the beginning. The map is a bit of help for those who posted on it. But I think if there were a way to have them all in a calendar format that would be awesome. Say you want to know who all has tryouts tonight you click on Friday Augst 12 and everything pops up. That would make things much nicer. :)

Have you tried the tryout filter at the bottom of the top page?

I will address this to TheBearMay and Rick, but I was thinking about ideas to make this tryout search easier and here is my idea....give me your thoughts.

How about making a tryout section similar to how the tourney registration link works. You go to the tryout area and register your tryouts with all the relevant information and have them in chronological order. There would be no need to bump and all of them would be listed and not have to scroll through page after page of tryouts and TTT's...You could include your links to your website and a link for directions...etc. So what do you think???

Great Idea!

I like that idea knights. Like I said something that shows what ones are available on certain dates. The ttt bump game is so tiresome at times.

I must be blind. I can't seem to find the tryout filter. I have looked a few times and have finally gave up. ha. And it irritates me so much because I can usually figure things out on my own.

Breezy-NICE. That's what I am looking for! Simple and organized. Only problem is that those are all about 4+ hours away from me. We are in NE-way NE. haha.

Yeh, sorry about that, it is mostly for central and southwest Ohio....

I think having a calendar would be a great thing, but the team needs and coaching changes that inevitably occur during the tryout season would probably still require try-out threads.

Sounds like a good plan!

@zoeysmom: Try working the tryout list from the bottom up instead of from the top down. You may see a posting more than once, but you won't miss any.

Suggestion: Someone could start a thread for each age group where the first post lists the tryouts in date order with a link to the team's tryout post. OFC could sticky them on top. Example:

Sat, Aug 13:
- Team A <link>
- Team B <link>
...

Sun, Aug 14:
- Team C <link>
- Team D <link>
...

Just another Idea..

This tryout section needs something done. It's seem like teams from all over Ohio are having tryouts and people don't know from what part of Ohio the org's from.

Why don't you have a tryout section, and then have it divided into 4 sections of Ohio, This way the people looking for teams will then have an idea where to look instead of combing thru pages and pages, or not knowing where teams are from.. Might save a lot of time and ^%%$$#

Ohio Tryouts
Northeast Ohio
Northwest Ohio
Southeast Ohio
southwest Ohio

This would work also for "OHIO PLAYER LOOKING FOR TEAM"

The only problem with this is some teams don't want to commit to one certain area of the state to draw from, they want to pull from all over, so you would have teams eating up space from multiple listings in all areas. There has to be a certain amount of leg work done by the player/parent as to not make the process a no-brainer. Just get the tryouts somewhat categorized according to date, all on one page, and have at it

It could work ;&

Just add OHIO, ALL STATE for people that would like to choose that, And that isn't many.... just saying... jmho

And it STILL Mainly shows where Orgs/teams are, to let the players choose within their city/county....

I agree with you BUT. There are few teams that get players from all over the state and everyone knows who those teams are. If a player or parent is new to this they won't know who these teams are let alone the hugh committment these teams require. They need to know which teams are from within their area that they are willing to travel for, which is most likley 75miles or so. Why punish 99% of the orgs on here for the sake of the 8 to 12 orgs that get players from everywhere. If you want to play for those 8 to 12 orgs you know who they are and what they are all about. You know what you are getting into. Most people can't even afford the cost to play for these 8 to 12 teams.

It would be a very small talented group of players or teams this would effect and these teams already have all they need to recruit players, when your the best of the best "THEY WILL COME"
