I've considered writing an app to store/display the tryout information, but then I look at what we have available now that no one uses and wonder if it would get used enough to justify the time and expense. For example, how many have used the thread tag feature? If you looked at the bottom of the Buckeye Heat tryout thread you'll see that I included about 16 searchable tags to help parents narrow down locations and ages using the tag search (less than 10% of the teams included them this year). We also have a calendar feature that anyone can post their events to - I stopped posting our tryouts there after doing an informal survey that revealed about 95% of OFC members didn't use it. The tryout filter has had some limited success (bottom of the portal page for those who haven't yet discovered it), but I'd guess that over 60% of the membership didn't know where to find it or that it existed until this post. How many have used the forum sort feature; default is last post time, but you can sort on Thread Name, Thread Starter, Thread Rating, # of Views, and # of Replies if you like. Using the Search this Forum feature can significantly shorten your list of tryouts if you search on the right terms (try 12U, Worthington & August 13).
