Weather in Ohio sucks! We all know this and it's out of our control. But, lets talk about what is in our control. How an org. sets up their bracket is completely in their control even if it is done with ulterior motives. Lets talk about how a 10u team only plays 2 pool play games because of weather and then gets removed from the bracket. Lets talk about how that team had a better first 2 game record than another team, or a better "runs against" number than another team if we go off of last 2 games. Either way there are 2 teams in that should not be above phantoms 10u. When confronted, we have received zero response. And now our 12u team has been punished as well. Or lets talk about how there were 2 brackets because of 20 teams, and after eliminating 6 teams from bracket play, there are still 2 brackets with one having 4 teams to play for a championship that includes a Tallmadge, home team. HMMMMM go figure. This is the second tournament that both our 10u and 12u teams have been in that benefit Tallmadge this year, and both times we have been removed from the bracket play because of weather. Just because we are not a big organization does not mean we should be thrown to the side. Everything about this bracket setup screams "rigged" and keeping a 2nd smaller bracket instead of combining, proves that it is. Pics are too big to add, but it is all on tourney machine. Thanks for reading.

I'm a little confused, so just want to clarify what happened ...

Are you saying that some teams played 2 pool games and some played 3, and that a team that played 2 pool games and had a better percentage record than a team in the same pool that played 3 games, and that the team that played 3 pool games moved on? What were the pool records of these 2 teams? Also, how did the 12U team get punished?

And then are you also saying that 14 teams moved on to bracket play and that one bracket had just 4 teams, and the other bracket had the other 10 teams?

What they did is made two brackets after pool play, not all pool play was finished due to weather. So they made a gold bracket(top 10 teams )and a blue bracket( the next 4 teams based on rankings) and 20 teams were in the 10U division. I see Phantoms played in the blue bracket. This is based off tourney machine. I am not a Tallmadge guy.

I just talked to someone from a team who won the blue bracket and who played both Phantoms and Tallmadge in that bracket. Sounds like this bracket was a good opportunity for some of the teams to get in a couple extra games to help compensate for the weather having unfortunately shortened things.

I'm not sure what the original post was intending to say. But here are the details that I know for 12u.

The tournament was set up to have Gold and Blue brackets for elimination play on Sunday. 12u had 20 teams, 5 pools of 4 teams each. Rules stated top 2 seeds per pool go to Gold bracket and bottom 2 seeds per pool will go to to Blue. Event was non-sanctioned. It had typical tie-break rules in place for bracket seeding: 1) Win/Loss record, 2) Head-to-Head (if play each other), 3) Runs Allowed, 4) Run Diff (+10 max per game), 5 coin flip. And rules have normal boiler plate language giving the TD the power to do what they feel necessary if rain hits.

12u completed 27 of 30 games before the rain hit per the standings on Tourney Machine. Pools A, B, C got all games in. Pool D lost one game. Pool E lost 2 games. It looks like everyone got in at least 2 full games.

Our pool was B and all teams got all 3 games in. We finished with 3 teams tied at 1-2, but our team (Phantoms 12u) was noted as the #3 seed in the standings based on Runs Allowed. We left the field that Saturday expecting to play in the Blue bracket, as the #3 seed give or take (#13 seed overall).

Due to the rain, for Sunday, the TD made decision to run with a full 10-team Gold bracket like planned but reduce Blue bracket to 4 teams in 12u. So top 2 seeds in each pool would go Gold as originally planned. And 1 team each from 4 of the 5 pools would go Blue. When the Blue bracket posted Phantoms were originally listed in these 4 teams. But TD later changed this and our team was removed and we were replaced by the Landsharks who finished as the #4 seed in our pool.

I am just a parent so I am not privy to any direct info. But I heard that the reason the Phantoms 12u was removed was based on the head-to-head tie-breaker with Landsharks. But that makes no sense as it is circular logic. Phantoms beat Bears, Bears beat Landsharks, Landsharks beat Phantoms.

Rigged? Probably not as nefarious as that. But I hope that there is a different reason than the only one I have heard thus far for Phantoms not making the Blue bracket.
