Umpire attends Softball Banquet

Valley lost a PIAA Quarter Final Game on a an illegal pitch call (the catcher was out of the box on an intentional walk) sending home the winning run in the bottom of the ninth and eliminating them from the state playoffs.

In a rare display of sportsmanship and in an effort at healing, they invited Bill Dithrich to speak at their banquet. Check out this article.

fairman.......thank you for posting this. This is a great story and I think everyone needs to read it. Like the young lady says at the end " It's just a call, it's just a game." Very hard lesson learned, and one I dare say neither the pitcher or catcher will ever forget.
