Mike,
thanks.
theBearMay sent me here a while back when discussing tournament scheduling.
Just took me this long to check it out.
This was a tournament we (BHeat) talked about last season because we hadn't played in any north of here.
reading some of these posts, I am absolutely certain that opinions can be found on just about everything softball and then some.

Like in the past for our tournaments - after the tournament closes, we first advise the managers of entered teams as to what teams have entered via email, we next post the information on our web site and lastly we post the information on the forums. We do this in an effort to be fair to all and as a courtesy to those that have entered. We feel that anyone contemplating entering should have the same information, or lack of information - if you will, in hand at the time of their decision. Like everything else, not everyone will agree; but I think you can understand our reasoning.

This tournament, as well as the NC Spirit tournament is very will run. The facilities are great, competition is very good, admissions are based on car loads not per person, and they offer other various softball related activities. I would encourage any team to consider these two tournaments as possibilities when finalizing their summer schedule.

Some Td's do not tell which teams are entered until after it is full and payments are made. This keeps some coaches from tournament shopping trying to find an easy tournament for his/her team to whoop up on everyone, or to try to avoid stiff competition. This happens all the time. Some coaches will travel for hours to avoid a tournament with a couple of good teams or known stiff competition. I am in no way saying this is the case here. ;)

Wave 16....
It works just the opposite for many competitive teams! They will avoid the tournaments with what they consider the lesser competitive teams and drive a few hours more to play against the best competitive teams in any tournament on any givin weekend. 16U and 18U competitive teams for the most part are not interested in the hardware. They are interested in playing the best competition they can find and showcaseing their players in front of college coaches. Posting a list of the teams commited to the play in a tournament gives teams a chance to see just how competitive the playing field will be for that tournament.

I agree Classics, but a lot of TD's don't see it that way. I have to say that the majority of teams at least at the 14u level try to avoid tournaments with the big dogs. I think you should play the best to become one of the best but not everyone has that opinion. Some Summer tournament teams enjoy the trophies more than anything and will seek out the less competitive tournaments.

The tournament closed for all age divisions on March 30. Rather than consume space on the forum, entrants are listed on the organization's web site: Link
