Congrats to the 03 OH Hurricanes for last weekends OUTSTANDING run. We finished Runner up out of 76 teams at USSSA Northeast National championship event. We played 15 games over the course of four days in 95-97 degree heat, in Ocean City MD. We finished 13-2 playing well over 120 innings. Out scoring our opponents 121 to 21 (excluding the loss in the championship to NJ Outlaws). We went 3-0 in pool and lost to a very solid DE Diamonds right out of the gate. Went to losers bracket immediately, if not sooner. All bracket games were full 90 min games. On Saturday we got to the fields at 7AM and played into the night finishing our last game at 9:30PM. Only had a small 60 min break at about 6 PM. Otherwise all Back to Back to BACK. The last game had to be moved to a field with lights. On Sunday we sent everyone home BUT lost in the championship to the NJ outlaws. We simply ran out of gas. I have been around the game a long time and have not heard of too many teams losing the first round and making the championship through 12 bracket games! This was a fantastic weekend and will be something the girls can cherish the rest of their lives. Our team played as a unit. When one would fall, three were there to pick that person up. Just an amazing run. Congrats to a great group of players, coaches, and parents!
On a side note- There is ton of talent right now in Ohio softball. Congrats to Lasers down in Atlanta! I know the 12U 03 class is sending a number of top teams from their respective class to ASA/USA in Va in a few weeks. Good luck to the Ohio teams who are going. Expect to see some deep runs by the 03's at that event!
