My name is Casey Houston and I am 21 years old and wanting to coach. If you are looking for an assistant coach then I would love the opportunity to join your team. I am from Canton, OH. I grew up playing travel softball. I have played on Wolfpack and Maddogs and some other teams. I played mostly catcher but also loved to play 3rd. I took catching lessons at Maddogs with Bill and Kelly from 8 years old till the end of my softball career which ended when I was 17-18 years old. My softball career was cut short because of some injuries or I would have went on to play in college at Chatham University. I would love the opportunity to be able to share my knowledge and get back into the game.

Casey there are many teams looking for help at all levels of play.

Depending on the level of confidence you have in your ability to instruct you may start out at the HS level. If not Recreational or Travel circuit level and grow you’re coaching skills. Use this forum to search teams or, contact previous orginizations you played for.

ACE ASA training is valuable. Not for HS or College Coaching but it also comes with an insurance policy so it is is well worth the money if you want to coach at the recreational or travel levels.

Your catching experience is in demand as is pitching experience. Now there are some things you must do as you grow in the coaching ranks.

I would suggest NFHS to become a certified coach. Second review the OHSAA coaching requirements
https://nfhslearn.com/

Also review the HS requirements here:
https://www.ohsaa.org/Coaches-Corner.

There are a lot of colleges that are looking for coaches some paid (most not paid) that you can also work your way into.
https://ncaamarket.ncaa.org/jobs/category/coaching

Now a lot of HS/College teams use former players as coaches however, you can contact your local HS and Colleges looking for openings.(Some are not posted).
It’s actually easier to get started coaching in college level NAIA, DIII, than HS level…

Good luck in your search!
