On the radio show last night we talked about this year's Women's College World Series Bracket Contest. Ricky and I are still working out some details, but we wanted to give everyone a heads up on this since there will be a narrow window to get your brackets in next week.
Brackets should come out on Monday, and games will either start on Thursday evening or Friday. We will have some kind of special prize still to be determined, for anyone who has a perfect bracket. Now in the WCWS, you may remember that the format is 16 regionals, 8 super regionals, and then the World Series itself ... so you will be asked to pick the winner of each of the regionals and super regionals, and then the winner and runner up of the World Series. While we will ask you to pick all 26 winners up front, there will be a special feature this year that you can re-select 2 teams from the first round, and 1 from the second round so that everyone still has a chance to get back in and win, as long as you do so before the next round begins.
Here's the other new feature ... last year, I offered a small cash prize to the person with the most correct picks, as long as they beat me ... this year, instead of beating me, you have to beat Joe Abraham, Head Coach of Hillsdale College. Of course, if I have the most points, then I don't have to pay anything. And of course, Coach Joe can't win anything either ... he just will be the benchmark.
Hopefully that all makes sense, though I will explain the final details next Monday. One last thing ... the best thing of all ... there is no cost to enter this, so it's hopefully to have a little fun and see who in the Forum has bragging rights for either picking the perfect bracket, or at least beating Coach Joe!
