The rules only require the catcher to be in their box - which is huge in softball - they don't have to be behind the plate. Why are they starting behind the plate and moving out to catch the pitch instead of just setting up outside behind the opposite batter's box? WA didn't step out of the box, but their catcher was positioned behind the plate with her right hand stretched out for a target. Seems like they are making it more difficult on themselves.The catcher stepping out of the box before the pitch was released just now was something we almost had earlier this year with one of our catchers. If you don't practice everything, you won't get it right. Even if you do practice it doesn't guarantee anything.
