Every program will have a team/parent/or group of parents that need lessons in manners.

It all ebbs and flows. The problem is that some of the most obnoxious parents seem to have talents kids.............it is a cruel irony in the world of youth sports.

We played 12u teams from both of these organizations in Columbus this year (went 1-1) and had no problem, either.

You must have played my team. What organization are you with?

I had nothing but positive experiences with the coaches and players at Berliner. There are a few very competitive teams in WV. The population base just doesn't produce the same depth in WV as Ohio. But there are a few teams that do very well when they go out of state or compete in the national tourneys. As far as having problems with parents...we have our share of idiots...but based on my personal experience, no more than what you see outside the state.

Don't kid yourself, TNT. :)

There are some smokin' girls teams that come out of West Virginia. I've seen them... and so has some of these Ohio teams .

If I understand you to mean that there are some very good WV teams I don't disagree. A few years ago the TNT 12u went undefeated for the year and ended their season winning the WFC World Series in Myrtle Beach. The difference between Ohio and WV is the difference in the population bases. I read this forum on a regular bases and it amazes me the number of teams that you have in most of your tournaments. We try to go out of state four or five times a summer. When we do play locally we play in tournaments with only five and six teams. Most of those teams shouldn't be playing "A" softball. That being said, the WV Wild 1s and Championship Fastpitch Blue can compete with most.

Two years ago as a 10u my team played in the Capitol City Showdown. I had the opportunity to play HOH Nitro who ended up the #1 team in the state that year. They were our only loss in the tournament and there was a clear difference between our two teams. The coach told me that they had over 250 kids try out for the team and they selected kids from the Columbus, Cincinnati, and Cleveland area. By contrast we select kids from Wayne County, Cabell County, and Lincoln County. Ohio has cities with larger populations than our entire state.

There are many fine organizations that come out of West Virginia.. and I have had the pleasure to have worked with a couple at my events and saw good ball being played.

With less girls to choose from... then a lot can be said for the coaches and their staff of WV teams. JMHO

West Virginia Wild 1's is a nice org from what I know of a few years back when they was young. Nice people. Great parents.

Actually, these Ohio teams love when the WV teams come to Ohio to play .. as they know good teams are coming. Bottom line.

I think more Ohio TD's should give the WV teams a free entry to come play in Ohio events ... just for the draw of Ohio teams !!! You like my way of thinking, TNTCoach ;)

Love the idea. We can afford free. Anyone want to chip in for hotels? ;):D

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

You laugh.. but if a WV org team draws eight other teams... and those eight teams stay in motels... and the TD gets one room free per 12 room sold......

... about got the motel rooms covered... :lmao:

Same theory as this and have a :

"Come Beat the Ohio ASA State Champions " (Doom -Anderson)

as being state champions DOES have it's advantages and a free entry fee if they draw 8 - 12 teams is indeed feasible. Think about it. Who wouldn't want a shot at the State Champions

My DD was the tiny catcher that played against you from the Miamisburg Sting '99. You guys got us 6-1 in a very well played game.

I remember her. Good to connect personally with one of the posters here. You guys were a young team. I remember playing with all 11s last year. You will be surprised at the physical difference between the 11 and 12 year old year. If the parents buy in to the concept that you are building on a group of girls the payoff is very good. Good luck to you guys.

I think most of the parents have bought in to that concept. I know I have. It was a great experience playing against your team. Hope to do it again down the road.

I witnessed several incidents at the Whitehall Fastpitch Classic with the WV *******. Parents were thrown off the field and police were called. Both the parents and players were rude and obnoxious. They should have been thrown out of the tournament for making threats to players. Not to speak of the adults insulting and throwing out threats to 16 and 17 year olds. It was a ridiculous display of sportsmanship and they should all be embarrassed by their behavior. I observed similar behavior last year with the RoadRunners at a tourney in WV but more so with the players than the parents.

Nice first post, newbie

We have them here in Ohio and I am sure if you asked someone from Georgia... they have them too !!!!!

A lot of TD's talk amongst themselves... I have only one (1) team that I would never in a million years allow in a tournament of mine.

That team is..................................................( not telling LOL) They know who they are.

We all worry about first time posters, sir and information being on the up and up...

Then we sit back and await for them to post again.. because everybody figures if the person comes back to post again... then it is legit.

If they don't.. then they got an axe to grind.

Welcome to your second post.

Usually the OFC clan on here .. don't take too much stock in first posters.

Typically I just read the post here but in this case I felt compelled to share what I observed. Gets my blood boiling just thinking about it and that was two weeks ago.

I understand. It would make my blood boil too. People can tell you, I absolutely do not like cussing around the girls. It's a pet peeve of mine. Not needed and absolutely will not be tolerated.

I have a team on my list for NEVER attending my events. I have started to see more teams anymore than I wish to enter unto my list.

I think if the TD's would start using a common list... we'll stop it.

There is actually a site here on the OFC for TD's to talk. Never used actually. Wish it was indeed.

My opinion though.

The way I look at it sir, it is a legit claim.

If you want to PM me the name of the team... as a TD I would appreciate it. Teams with a bad reputation... makes it hard on TD's when they get in a tournament. Especially if , as a TD, you are unaware of it and teams know and then don't get in your event because of that team and their previous actions.

This has happened to me actually.. and thus 5 teams didn't play because of the one team that entered. Finally, one coach told me why he wouldn't play in the event.

I just wish he would have told me sooner and I would have sent them their check back and told them not to come... so the other five teams could have entered and had fun.

Because I like having fun... Because that is what softball is actually in my mind.. Fun.

A lot of TD's tolerate it for the money... but I am not about money. I am about fun. I don't tolerate it.

Played 16U MOV Flaming Fury last year in Gahanna. Their scorekeeper yodeled like an auctioneer throughout the entire game. Alternated between funny and obnoxious. But mostly obnoxious.

My daughter's team played that MOV team last season in Pickerington, and you are right that score keeper was EXTREMELY obnoxious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
