Ok, we loved Stingrays this year, won't find a better tournament in my opinion. What are the best tournaments in terms of experience and competition in Ohio for 18U? Just trying to plan on next year already.

Don't give up on GAPSS yet. First year for the new staff. Knowing the staff, GAPSS will improve.

The Summer and Fall Best of the Best's put on by the Ohio Wolfpack. Loudonville. ASA National Qualifier. I haven't been to the Laser's tournament so I can't really comment on that tournament.

I'm sure more will be posted.

The best tourneys for 18u? staying home! (I sense another post, things i learned a 18u)

Stingrays=loved
GAPSS=still shaking my head at the blind draw, but good competition otherwise
Massillon tourneys=AARP umpire award+broken windshield = good riddance

i actually missed going to Beavercreek this year, didn't make it up to Loudonville and Berliner is too close to home to warrant a response in the positives.

In no particular order...

Best of the Best (2.0) Fall and (3.0) Summer
Laser Nation by Invitation
Stingrays
Loudonville
Beavercreek w/Bob Darden
Kidron Wayne County All Stars Tornament
Tigertown Classic
GAPSS

Wayne County All Stars is my hands down favorite. The country atmosphere with townsfolk coming out to watch ball games on old traditional fields was cool and the competition was great. Where else can you get apple dumplings and ice cream at a concession stand?

Loudonville is also very good. Lasers Nation was good. Didn't like GAPSS a year ago (wasn't there this year).

I think the answer may lie in what you want to achieve from the tournament. there lots of good choices out there and I do appreciate the kind comments about Beavercreek.

We are planning next year's schedule and around the 15th of August we should have it completed.

We are looking at having a combined 18U/18over event that would be limited to 16 teams.

It would be great event to alert college coaches to come watch and see how the 18U players do against college players-

I would have to say all the ones our team went to this year. and I'm speaking as a parent on this

Some that stood out were,

Parma Shootout
Batwars
Laser nation
MC Madness
Cinderella Classic

But in all honesty, I feel it's the players decision on what was THEIR best tournament that their team played in...

Win or lose, They enjoyed the competition that they played in...

My DD liked the out of town tournaments the best because of hotels sleep overs and spending time with the other players...

If you are looking at tourneys with the most College exposure for your players I would have to say: (not in any order)
Best of the Best
Stingrays
Lasers
GAPSS
ASA States

Loved Kidron, only complaint though is they really should put up temp fencing to make the fields 200'

ASA States for exposure and Kidron for everything else. (Have not been to Stingrays or Lasers but have heard good things about them)

I think this is pretty much right. It occured to me that about 10 years ago, these tournaments either didn't exist or wouldn't have been on the list. Back then, you had Kidron, Loudonville, Sluggerfest and probably a couple of others I can't recall.

Like Tournament Director said, the best tournaments list all depends on what you are trying to achieve. Leaving aside college exposure, I always loved his tournaments in Beavercreek and missed them quite a bit when my old team went to playing only exposure tournaments.

Another thing to keep in mind about the exposure tournaments is location. Orland Park was great, but DD wasn't really interested in going to college in IL, WI or MN and those were the most contacts she made there.

Stingrays, Lasers and Loudonville were all top notch IMO.

If so, I'm driving with someone else! No need to lose another windshield
