Team out of another state did it this year.... with the step out of the catcher's box and hit the umpire on one of my crew. We threw out the pitcher, the catcher, the coach.. then the asst coach and five fans.

I guess they thought nothing would be done about it...lol.. their stupidity.

i have umpired alot of youth softball in marion. and we all know who the coach is who said that about hitting the umpire. he is my brother. does he teach this? NO!!!!. i have umpired alot of games for him. and at times im sure he or his daughter doesnt like my strike zone ( i dont think that she every will ) when he said this he was joking. i know he alway told me he was going to do this to me. but i know that he would never do this or teach this. im sure Achew he said it to you joking or trying to get a laugh. or maybe you overheard this. this is how people get stuff started. roger you are a good coach and your daughter is a better player because of this. keep up the good work

Any coach in any youth sport teaching or instructing a player to purposely hit another youth or a game official should be permanently banned from coaching in another youth sport again ... period.

Any thoughts on the coach who tells his batter to lean in and take one? Saw this happen several times last year and at NSA Nationals.

I have to refer back to the ASA rule book, but OHSAA says if the batter makes no effort to get out of the way it it the umpires discretion to award a base.

I umpired some youth games that used OHSAA rules as its basis and there were a couple times I did not award first base because of this and no one argued or even grumbled.
