I'm a bit bored and tired of winter 3 months ago and my mind started wondering into depths unknown.

What if fastpitch had a trading deadline like pro sports? It's that time of year again when girls jump ship and teams reload with they believe to be better talent. Tryouts are typically held in August and for whatever reason things just don't work out, either player unhappy with team or coach unhappy with player. What if the sport had a trade deadline of 2nd week of February, after that you're stuck. And any team losing a player must be compensated with a player from that team or another team that's involved. Ridiculous I agree, but just imagine the forum; it'd be overloaded with rumors and possibilities.

i would never keep a girl from leaving if she wanted to but always curious as to what would happen if a coach refused to sign a release?

Sad but there are coaches out there that refuse to or will give you a hard time, but there is way's around it you would need to contact ASA or NSA and explain situation to them

Why don't we go a step farther and have a one big tryout for all the teams, and the coaches can draft based upon last years record. You get to franchise your own players from last year, but the free agents get drafted. Haha -can you imagine the ruckus.

And coaches also have $250 Dollar McDonald's gift cards to give out to any girl that signs with their team......imagine that.....lol.....my DD may leave the Stingrays for a rec ball team for that...:O

If you DD was a pitcher.... she'd get a signing bonus of another $250.00 Mickey D's card for a total of $500.00. Welcome to the big leagues.

I wonder where they will set the League minimums at, And of course there will be Championship Bonuses paid to each Umpire that is selected through the Umpire Poll.;&

Round up 8 organizations schedule a week long tryout of games for each age group, have kids apply and pay $50.00 each to participate, so only the serious kids participate and take any funds not spent to split amongst each org to buy equipment. Take 8 kids at each of the 9 positions plus 1 utility position and blind draw for teams, then take Buckeye Heat 97's idea and have each team pick but based on team finish at ASA/USA Nationals (not on season record).
Rd 1 first pick goes to best finisher, Rd 2 first pick goes to next best finisher and so on for each round. I'd think a couple of great teams would come out of that. And get in touch with ASA so they can start to train umpires and do reviews or grade out existing umpires to make sure they are qualified to be calling games. Will never happen, but you can group it up based on region, and I'm sure there are at least 8 organizations in each region (N,S,E,W,Central). Could even call in a couple of Colleges to maybe take a peek, never know?

A new market could open up for "draft raiders" - well paid agents who work behind the scenes to coerce players (by various mean$ :D) to switch teams. A literal black market of talent! Think of the $$$ to be made!!!

Great ideas.....If the pitcher is a total stud, throw in a coach purse, if she's really good, matching shoes. The possibilities are endless.
