What is a Major

With the US Open Golf tournament over the weekend, and what golf people consider, along with The Masters, The Brittish Open, and The PGA Championship, their 4 Major Events. I was curious what some of you all think would qualify as Ohio's 4 Majors? With another list of the 4 Majors Nationwide? Let's use PGF, ASA Gold, and ASA/USA as givens and try to just list Tournaments, Qualifiers, or Showcases to see what everyone would consider Softballs 4 Majors

That depends on if you consider the showcase tournaments as qualified for "major status" since they are not "championship play" but usually get the best of the best there.

In Ohio, there are only a very few true ASA Gold teams (putting "Gold" in your name doesn't qualify as a registered ASA Gold team; for example Cincy Doom Gold, which last weekend won a berth to the ASA/USA 18u tournament, was not a registered ASA Gold team and therefore was eligible for the 18u berth) and there are to my knowledge no ASA Gold tournaments so I'm not sure how you call that division an Ohio major. There are also no Premier qualifiers held in Ohio. I guess that I would assume an "Ohio major" would involve a lot of Ohio teams at an Ohio site.

Update: sorry, I just re-read your post and I think you were stating that Gold and Premier would be among the Nation's Majors. I might disagree with the Gold inclusion, as it had a very brief period of ascendance and is currently under attack by the option of playing Premier. I think that I would go with the top tier of the Colorado tournaments (it has changed its name and format in recent years but is essentially the Louisville Slugger Liberty tourney) even ahead of Gold and there are a few other National tournaments such as Huntington Beach that might slip in ahead of Gold.

Kidron and loudonville always have the top teams in the state in them and with kidron having no time limits it has to be one of the top in the state.
