As our team is at the half-way point of our FallBall season, I also find myself researching what tourneys our team should compete in next Spring/Summer. This will be our organization's first year of tourney-heavy play, as we typically have been involved only in League play and end-of-season tourney play.

So my question is, if your DD is on a team, what organization's tourneys does her team tend to enter... I'm sure many compete in more than one org's events, so feel free to click all that would apply.

Thanks!

Oh and also, if you clicked on "Other" above as an option, tell us a little about the organization and its tourneys, as it is likely a little less known than the 5 main "major" orgs.

very important note - if your DD is 16's or 18's and does not play in ASA - then it is my opinion they are not getting the best possible exposure available. We had the absolute honor of going to the ASA/USA National this past summer and in the 6 days we played we saw EVERY top D1, D2, etc. coach and scout you could ever see in one place. you can play tournaments all over for every level - but if your DD truly wants to be recruited by the best you must do showcases and ASA at 16's and 18's - that is a no brainer! and do not forget MARKETING!!! MARKETING!!! MARKETING!!! Profiles, emails, DVD's, just playing in local USSSA tourneys won't do it!!

Last year in southwest Ohio ASA tourneys more often than not had the best teams. Next was NSA (but I'm not very happy with them), then USSSA.

Megasportsmom and Lenski,

Thanks for the advice... My team will be 1st year 16U with several players that could stay down 14U another season, so we're probably looking at 2-3 years at 16U depending on how the players' birthdays break down and all. As young as we are, we will likely start with the 3 local (southern ohio) USSSA tourneys, then end with a couple ASA/NSA tourneys.

Thanks again!

How many NSA have you played in this year?
Not sure how anyone around here could think they were better than USSSA

Right over here!
Depends on what you want to do after HS and your recruiting needs. Not all PGF is equal. Same is true in ASA, UTrip, and NSA. In Ohio NSA simply does not draw top talent.

This past weekend there were two PGF trurneys. One of them had teams from as far away as California, Illinois, and South Dakota. The other PGF was more local. Two vastly different events. My point is always look who is going to the event first then decide if you want to play the talent. Don't focus so much on the sanctioning body, unless you know you want to play in that sanction bodies nationals and you need a bid.

ASA/USA seems to be where a lot of the younger teams 10/12 go for nationals. PFG HB, CA seems to attract the best of the best. USSSA is very popular on the east coast, just not sure how strong nationals are.

Funny to see some of the post from 2008.. How times have changed.

I agree USSSA is stronger than NSA in Ohio but it also appears this is a 10 year old thread. So, NSA was decent back then and very popular in TN.

This is a 10 year old thread, but Fastpitch 04 responded to it earlier today........that is why I am wondering how they could rank NSA????
USSSA looks to be doing a lot of things right nationally & statewide lately....The Elite program they have started seems pretty good.
There are 270 teams playing in Indiana's USSSA State tournament next weekend!

I would say experience with USSSA events could vary greatly depending on what part of the state you play in. If you've played USSSA in the Columbus area, Lancaster, or Marion, then you've probably had a good experience with USSSA events. If you've played in certain other parts of the state, your experience might be completely different.
