What was the motivating factor why you play where you play?

1. Name on the front of jersey/ Ie Org name.
2. DD wanting to play with her friends.
3. The coach is a great coach and you believe he/she can get you DD to the next level
4. The Organizational head.
5. Schedule.
6. Proximity to home
7. Number of past kids, which the organization, has placed with collegiate programs.
8. Not really sure just the first team to accept her at tryouts.
9. The position she wanted to play was open.
10. Combination of some of the above. Which ones/?

For her current team it's #10 (Combo of 4,5,6)
She doesn't really care about #1, #2, #7, Would like to have #3 but I haven't seen to many of those and she'll work to earn #9

My DD is a freshman - she goes to a 6A high school (approx. 3,000 students) One of her goals for the year was to make varsity as a pitcher (she did) so she decided she wanted to take a step back from travel and concentrate on school and schoolball this year - and see what happens from there.

So...

#4 The head of the organization is one of her school coaches - so she thought that would be a good fit for her.
#5 it's an 18U team with a mostly committed seniors so they are doing a mostly local schedule with a couple of showcases, so travel will take up less money and time.
#6 the Org headquarters are 15 min away and they use the fields 5 minutes from our house. It will be the first time she plays for a travel org within an hour of the house - so way less drive time and way less trying to do homework in the car.

For my daughter when asked at end of 14u season if she wanted to keep playing she just said.... " What else would I do?? ";)
Needless to say she just loves the game, the competition, and her teams!

All but her and 3 other kids on her team for this summer are freshmen in college right now. They are paying in 5 tournaments or so, all in Ohio. Lowest team fee ever and she already knew a hand full of the kids going into it. The parents who I already knew are good people, I'm sure the rest will be alright too.

They didn't play at all in the fall, which was great. She got to get better at softball instead of wasting time winning trinkets.

Right over here!
Well since you asked... I will take door number 3 as it is the most important. The coach has to know where to play, how to lead a group of kids, and how to get looks beyond the HS level. If you cant play the right tournaments what's the point? Couple that with the right organization and the rest kinda takes care of its self.

least important is proximity to home.. That's what rec ball is for.
