Which Colleges are attending Tournaments

I keep seeing questions in the threads of various tournaments that are hosting "Showcases" of "Which colleges are attending?"

I get the impression that someone is just hoping that a college coach will come out of no where and give DD a scholarship.

There are a lot of coaches and parents out there that have gone through this and maybe you can provide some better insight, but I think the correct answer should be...

"Hopefully all of the coaches that your DD sent emails to."

I know that not all of the coaches that DD has sent emails to will not be there, but I get the impression that some people think it will be like a college fair that is held at the high school. ?Each college has their own table and you just walk up and try to make a deal.

Without getting into the whole college recruiting do's and don'ts, does anyone else get the same impression?

My daughter has played travel ball for 9+ years and is a GREAT player. We went through the whole "recruiting" process-emailing coaches, sending dvds, attending showcase tournaments, camps, and clinics.

In the end, my daughter earned her WHOLE $44,000 yearly tuition on academic merit! The Division 1 schools really did not offer that much money (unless you were a a pitcher or a catcher), so why play there? Three other schools also offered FULL tuition to my daughter and NONE of it was for playing ball.

My advice is to keep your GRADES up! That will be more important in getting your education payed for than any recruitment process! You can still play ball if you WANT to and not because you HAVE to in order to get your money!

My daughter is going to play ball in college and I couldn't be happier! ;D
