Coaches - not trying to kick a hornet's nest with any team or organization, but it is interesting for me to watch at this time of the year where teams are sitting with 8 to 10 players and trying to find those "final pieces of the puzzle" - most of the time it is the hardest thing to find: Pitching or Catching. Often one team folds, usually it is 8 players or less, because a key player leaves the team (usually for the fear of there not being a team and may or may not take another player with them) and 3 teams get healthier by more players being available.

judging by the number of new teams and teams looking for "last 2 pieces to add to our talented roster", there are going to be a BUNCH of teams blinking very soon. and the older the age group, the bigger the roster needs to be.

Sadly, not a day goes by in the past 7-10 days that there is not a post on one of the Ohio FP Facebook pages where a team has folded and player(s) are looking for a new team. Most stated their team folded due to lack of pitchers.

that lack of pitching is an easy excuse. I know of one team that claimed that.... well sure they needed pitching along with a bunch of players to go with the ~5 that had accepted.

see it also with the 14u or 16u team that has like 2 pitcher, 1 catcher and 10 players total. That's not enough bodies.

I wonder how many who claimed "lack of pitching" passed on a number of candidates because they weren't the "bracket" pitchers they sought/wished for. Just speculating because I can remember at 12u/14u doing "pitching by committee" to get through games; no true #1 or #2 just trying to go with the best arm for the situation.

Come on, thats doesnt work anymore when you have D1 coaches in the stands at the neighborhood park watching 10u.

Oh!?!? I thought D1 Power 5 coaches started watching you at 12u. Just think it was 10u all along. (Insert my sarcasm here)

You could probably fold 1/4 of the teams and still not have adequate pitching. I don't know how many games I've watched the past couple of years and saw catchers chasing balls from missed pitches.
