I asked this before and got some good responses. Now a whole new group of coaches can respond.
Why do you coach? No poll, just manual replies.

Coaching is a passion, you either have it or you don't. I spent quite a few years coaching with badmedicine and we looked at each other several times and said why in the heck are we putting ourselves through this, answer - for the GIRLS. I love the sport and its surroundings, it took a few years for me to get badmedicine involved and then all of a sudden he jumps in it with both feet, what a surprise he got!!! The girls you get to help and the people you meet make memories for a life time and that can never be taken away. I took over a 12u team this year that had only won 4 games in two years and right now they are 9-11-2. It has been great teaching these young ladies the game step by step because they all want to learn it so bad they can taste it, makes it easier when they want it also. The only thing I told them from the get go was they must first learn how to lose, then learn how to compete and then the wins will come. Well, we got our butts kicked in Indy, won a few games in a couple of tourneys and won the West Liberty Earlybird, so things are looking up for them and they are having a ball and working hard. I am about teaching self confidence and if you don't have it you better get it or the world is going to tear you apart as you get older. I think parents understand and also love that someone else is there for their child as well. If I did not think I could help a young lady out in this sport I surely would not give my time, even though the pay is great - LOL. I love the sport and the young ladies that put forth the effort to get better and the many friends you meet along the way.
Not sure why, ... but I really miss sitting on the sidelines 2nd guessing people smarter than me, and yelling at the umpires with near impunity. As an asst coach, I guess I at least still get to 2nd guess a little ... ;&
