Will U of Cincinnati ever get softball?

The University of Cincinnati Bearcats seems to have a number of successful athletic programs but no softball? This has always struck me as odd for a D1 school in Ohio to be lacking the sport in these times. Anyone in SW Ohio have any answers on this and has there been any talk of the Bearcats starting a softball program?

I heard a few years back that they were planning to have a team sometime soon. Since then I have heard nothing about it. Not even a rumor.

I heard the Big East is putting pressure on them. The rumor I heard is that they are starting a womens ******** team next year. If that is the case I'm sure softball is close.

That's funny!

I like huggins, I am sure it would be a winning team. I bet they would play defense!!!

He did allot for intercity kids.
Ask any of them, they love him as a dad.

Best Luck to him in WV

So if they do get softball what about facilities? Not having been to their campus before is there a field there that could be upgraded to collegiate level or would they have to build brand new and where?

From what I remember of campus there aren't any areas on campus, unless they convert the parking lot (I think it's still parking lot) near the baseball field, that could be used to build a softball field so they'd probably have to look to acquire some land reasonably close.

space is tight and would be a problem but that is no excuse. There is plenty of bad areas around campus that could be bulldozed down and a stadium put up.

But would they do it right the first time and actually put up a stadium or go cheap with just metal bleachers initially? Any rich Cincinnati alumni out there whose kids or grandkids play softball who would donate toward the cause?

With all the news of them getting ready to expand Nippert and build the "bubble" for the Football program, it would be hard to squeeze a new stadium on campus.
