Wilson has just purchased Louisville Slugger for $70 million. How will this effect the Xeno and LXT lines, I wonder.

Wilson now owns the top 2 bats in FP Softball. I hope they keep them seperated. You see how the Worth/Miken deal went, 2 "different" bats that are very similar.

Demarini is a division of Wilson. I hope they keep the two separate, as my dd hates the feel of the Demarini and I know girls who live Demarini that hate the feel of the Louisville bats.

Bauer owns Combat and Easton and they are run completely different. The Combat's are low tech, the bats are layered composite manufacturing, and the company is run by slow pitch meat heads. Easton is the standard for diamond sports from management to manufacturing. They couldn't be more opposite. Rawlings, Worth, and Miken are owned by Jarden. They all share tech, and most of the bats come out of the Miken plant in Caledonia. Rawlings/Worth share sales and management teams and Miken has their own. I am interested to see how Wilson structures everything

Another sad story for American business selling out to other countries. Globalization has ruined the once mighty American manufacturing sector. Maybe when people start buying only "Made in America" products, everyone will have jobs again and the country will flourish. I for one, will not support Wilson, Demarini, Louisville Slugger, or any other foreign owned company. Glad my DD swings Easton. Another sad day for Americans fighting for America...

I don't believe Easton is Made in America. Last I heard, Miken/Worth may be the only popular ones that are.

It's a global economy ... we can not like it, but it's a fact of life. Not only does go to China in '07, but Louisville Slugger's metal bat production was moved to China in '08 as well.

Converse, Unfortunately America is not a business freindly enviroment any more .With the overburdening corporate tax structure, enviromental regulations and publicly traded companies having to show profits to investers ,there going to consolidate. Maybe we could get a pro private sector leadership back in this country to return us to what made America great.

I hate talking politics, but will gladly talk economics. Politicians get way too much blame or credit for anything that happens in this country. While there are certainly things governments can do to help their economies, the fact of the matter is that the world became a global economy many years ago now, and it ain't never going back. Unless you shut down all the borders and the internet, and put a big bubble around the country, we can not expect to maintain the standard of living we got spoiled with here when much of the rest of the world is happy with a lower one. I wouldn't trade living in this country for any other country in the world, but it's time to quit dreaming of things going back to the way they used to be before the internet and other electronic media, or before all the modern means of transportation. If you want to always buy made in the U.S., that's great, but good luck finding it when the cost of labor is so much less in other parts of the world. The most important thing we can do is to keep on the leading edge of technology and get there before other countries beat us to it.

Jeff, Are you implying we allow us become dependent on the rest of the world for all essential supplies,if that is the case you are implying we all need to be subject to the worlds problems religious wars, europian euro debt, what I'm saying there needs to be standard of self sufficiency,so our great country can survive world economic breakdown.I would like to return to the days of us being innovators and leaders in design and manufacturing for our and our childrens future.

True. But I think it's more of a political party affiliation thing. If you identify with Party "A", then everything Party "B" does is soooooooooooooooo wrong. It's the whole system, people! One leader does not save, nor ruin, a country. Or state. Or economy.

Agree Louuuu ,One leader or party cannot change the Whole system, but can put in place laws ,foriegn policy's that directly affect the whole system and the control they have over it.Notice I didn't mention a party or persons other than quote in my statements, putting America first before party should be the way imop

Paul, I agree 100% that we need to be innovators and leaders, and that in general terms, the country could be more "business friendly". I'm just lashing out more at all of the crap I see and hear out of both parties in Washington of playing politics instead of really getting things done that we can do something about. And the one thing we can't do no matter how much we might want to is to isolate ourselves from the rest of the world, or pretend that we can back to the way things used to be. If you focus on going backward, you will never go forward.

And if we think replacing one administration with another is going to somehow magically fix things, we're kidding ourselves and wasting time and money there. If we want to be leaders and innovators, we need to focus on improving our education system and providing incentives for innovation ... and yeah, we probably need to figure out how to really fix Washington to facilitate that.
