LASERS RED

CINCY STATIC
DRAGONS
CINCY DOOM
OHIO HAWKS
OHIO HAWKS

nitro

p.s. ORANGE is a "national" contender this year. Definitely a top 7 team.

There are no national polls , I don't follow the 12u age group, did the orange do really well at nationals last year ? not really sure what you mean by natl' contender --meaning win the whole natl tournie ? MD

Hey Jasbo,

Doom97 did very well this weekend playing up in 14U at the Beavercreek Tourney. I believe they ended up 2-2-1. Pitching and defense was very solid and they also hit very well. Gave us a heck of a game until we broke it open late.

Saw Ohio hawks (black or gold) Lenos' team beat Cincy Static in 12u at Beavercreek. Static looked as advertised all weekend then seemed to lose intensity in the championship game. Hawks jumped all over them. Lenos was aggresive in the coaches box getting some runners thrown out then looking like, hey who did that. They played an intense game from start to finish and never let up enough for the static to mount a comback. Static will be around all year as they can all hit. Congrats to the Hawks they scrapped it out.

Yes they did look good. By the eyeball test, I would say they were the best 12u team there. However my eyeballs also told me nobody were beating the static. Might need glasses.

You have hit the nail on the head. We let our players know after the game that you cannot come to play a great team like the Ohio Hawks with no intensity and get away with it. The Hawks have become a seasoned team and will make you pay when you don't come to play.

Thanks T80Wully... I was facing a parental lynching when in the first two innings I had 3 runners thrown out at third. But, the girls kept the pressure on just enough to crack thru for some runs in the 3rd. We learned a lesson at SWOBAT against the Lasers - they pressed us out of our defensive comfort zone the first game we played them in much the same way.

The Static had just come off a tough ITB win with the SGS Magic and we thought we might catch them a little flat. But then they executed 3 flawless put-outs at third on us and when I went back to the dugout I told Larry they made the plays they had to but I felt we were dictating the tempo of the game - I just hoped we could keep getting runners on base - this time it worked out - We did not want to get into a sluggfest with them - they are too good for that.

Had several Static parents come up and congrat the girls afterward - very classy... thank you. Also, I wanted to thank Kavin for the kind words on the tourney thread itself...

The USA/ASA in a couple weeks will be great - there will be some very, very good games and great teams.

Doug, The comment you made is so right about sitting on the sidelines will not get you any better. I want our 12u team to play as many great teams like yours as many times as we can to see how our girls respond to very good compitition. We will attend about 10 tourneys this year as a new team and finish at the Eastern Nationals. Can't wait to see how we grow and compete this year, Best of luck to all the 12u teams out there this will be a tough year in the 12u.

The Ice, Lasers Red, and Lasers Orange are all worthy of the votes they receive. They are all easily top 10 teams, and will win more than their fair share of games this year.

They take advantage of every mistake you make, and push the envelope on the basepaths. I don't know that I've seen a faster couple of players than the 1st two batters on the Ice. And, watch throwing an inside fastball to #8 - she'll blow it up.

We deserve to be on the outside looking in. Hopefully, we can cut down on our mistakes and catch up to these teams.

Ziggywoman,

I told your DD to play hard and have fun before our first game Saturday, and she looked at me like I was crazy. I don't think she ever had an opposing coach tell her that before. She played extremely well this weekend - she's a fun player to watch. I still think she should have been called for obstructing on that play at the plate, but she did exactly what she needed to do. It turned into more of a philosophical discussion as to what exactly obstructing is rather than arguing about the call itself. Wish her good luck this year.

She looks at me like I'm crazy all the time. Looks like all the teams that were there this weekend will see each other again in Dayton - Good Luck.
