Hey MD: Don't be so hard on your team. This was a great tournament with some strong competition. Besides you guys made it to the final 4 and took home some bling. We had a rough way to go through the tourny. We ended up playing 3 of the final 4 teams for the weekend. We only lost those 3 games by a total of 12 runs. :'( ( YEAH ONLY 12 HUH ) I wish you guys hadn't taken your first pitcher out so soon ;D ;D ;D. Good meeting you - Good Luck to you guys for the rest of the season.

Hey Brian -- Man I don't know --sometimes due to my own desires for our organization I get carried away with expectations. Last year our 10's and 12's combined went about 80-20 BUT we did'nt lose on sunday too often , can't speak to the 10's from last year but our 12's played 6 summer tournies and eastern natl's , we won 4 of them and finished 2nd twice. The record of the 10's was just as good or better.

But those teams were loaded with experience. Thats the key , we feel we have very good players , but we have a 10 man roster including 1 10 year old and 3 girls who have played zero amount of travel ball before this year. When the pressure rises and plays must be made during full game speed we faulter.

To be really really upfront and honest about the level of play at 12u , my opinion so far (and I have not seen everyone , esp the teams up north) is that it is not near as deep as the 12u field last year. There are a couple good teams but not anywhere near like last year. Then there is a big dropoff, that and 50 cents will get you 1/2 a cup of coffee. Look me up down at lucasville next weekend. I'll be late on sat , be there all day on sunday. Make sure and catch a tall girl from the WV Mountain Thunder when she throws , she's better than any kid we saw in columbus this weekend. And TNT is a very good group of 11 year olds. MD

Nice meeting you Hillbilly. And thanks for mentioning us. This was only our 2nd tournament together (won our first one in Fostoria) but eventually we hope to be able to play with those top 3 before the summers over. Forgot to ask, are you a Trucker or a Flyer over in Norwalk??

NWO seems to be absent from these polls.... I am really looking forward to see how some of our teams fare against the top list!

Which Emeralds team - Green or Black makes the top list?

I'd like to see the SGS Magic Red play some of these teams! They convincingly won the Pre-Season Classic last weekend. They play the Laser Gold and the Emeralds Green at the Tune-up this weekend. Can't wait to see it.

I would also like to see the Sylvania Sharks Green play some too. They are playing Emeralds Black in their pool

Emerald Black is the better team or at least has had the better results thus far. I am guessing it is either A/B or more likely 95 and 96's. Emeralds Black have a very good #1 pitcher and they hit well. What team are you with?

That is why the polls are just for fun, to get some names out there. Being a relatively new buckeye I've never even been to NWO , let alone be able to judge the quailty of their teams. MD

LadyIrish96,

Don't take this the wrong way, as I'm not trying to be salty in any way. But teams have to travel outside of there area to play other top teams. At least a couple of trips to big tournaments to face the top teams will get you the recognition you deserve. I know the Stingrays have traveled to Ft. Wayne, Toledo and Massilion already this year. The Cincy Doom 95 has traveled to Toledo, Columbus and Pigion Forge, Tennessee to play the top teams. The Lasers Silver & Lasers Gold (lots of families on both teams are from the North-East part of Ohio) have traveled to Columbus twice, Toledo and I'm sure will be in Cincy on the 4th of July for NSA States. These are just some examples. Also the Ohio Ice teams based out of Akron and the Ohio Emeralds out of Cleveland usually will travel down to Cincy for NSA States and Columbus for Ohio's biggest tournament 'The Stingray Invitational". I hope this clears things up for you, as I hope you and DD have a ?fun and successful 2008 season.

No offense taken. I don't think that travelling is required to be in the polls but it may help. ?If the top ranked teams come here and the NWO teams fare well, I think the W-L record states it all, not how far they drive, anyone can drive, not everyone can win. ? I have no idea how far those teams plan to travel because we are not in their organizations. Because of our proximity to MI, many of us play the top teams there. ?I just have seen that they are pretty strong.

All that I am saying is that it will be interesting to see how some of the NWO teams perform this weekend against some of those in the poll ?:D

There were two tourneys in Toledo this weekend. Three of the top ten teams traveled to one of them. The opportunity for NWO teams to play these teams were right in their back yard, but several teams did not take the opportunity to play there. To me that says a few things. JMHO.

At the time they picked the tourney that they were going to, the list of teams was not out yet. They have the opportunity this coming weekend again. All I am saying is don't count them out just yet.

Tell them to come to Fostoria! I have a feeling that the Doom, Stingrays and Lasers will be there at least.

The Doom would like to be @ ASA State but we will be in Indy playing the Indy Diamond Chix Elite 8 with the
Diamond Chix
Indy Dreams
Chi-Town Express
Indiana Thunder
Indiana Rebels
Indy Edge
Indy Excel

Three days of great competition. Hopefully we can come home with a few wins. I might need a guest player that weekend if anybody is interested.

June 27,28,29. I'm looking forward to this one but that is some scary competition. But hopefully it makes the girls, and the coaches better.

We are with the Lady Irish Blue ('96). We are a decent 'B' team working hard to make the ranks next year. We have made a lot of improvement over the winter and have only played 1 tournament so far as a team and we did OK.

SGS Magic Red will be in Fostoria :D So will we!

The website lists the following in Fostoria (as of May 19):

Lady Irish Green ('95)
Lady Irish Blue ('96)
SGS Magic Red
Miami Co. Blaze
SGS Magic Silver
Wizards (not sure which team because I don't see it listed in any of their schedules)

Lasers Silver will be there as soon as we verify that we can go without forfeiting our bid we earned last weekend in Toledo
