Stating the Gold needs a shot at the big dogs is a back handed compliment in my book. thats how I read it , sorry if not intended that way. The Tn Fury is plenty big enough dog for anyone. MD

No back-handed intent. Winning ASA's is a very impressive accomplishment.

Without trying to sound back-handed... I'd still like to see what they could do against the other also very talented, perrenial powers that chose to play PGF.

Like the infamous Rick Flair always said... to be the man, you've got to beat the man..... woooooooo ;)

until Premier (or ASA ) crashs and burns we will no longer have a "pure" undebatable natl champ. and thats a sad comment. I'm not against premier but unless they show they will be more than west coast affair I'll throw my hat in the ring for ASA (with all their warts ) at least their national looks national , not like the Ca State tourney.

If your kid isn't playing for a top 20 univ. or playing for a college out west why go play Premier (at this point in time ?) How many Ohio/WV/Ind mid to small majors or even smaller college's were in Ca recruiting ? thats where the large majority of our players will end up playing.

I'll add because I know the comment is coming -- "we want to play the best" --seeing how Ohio just one it's 1st ever ASA championship I'd say ASA offers more than ohio can handle on a routine basis . maybe we as a state should win a few of those before we skip it for something bigger . lots of angle's and opinions on Premier , some very good and legit gripes about ASA also, but I hate it because we no longer have a pure Natl' Champ . I don't disagree with any of what you are saying (and don't mean to hijack the thread).

I believe last year PGF and ASA Nationals did not conflict. It is unfortunate that they did this year. It will be interesting to see how it unfolds if they continue to conflict in the future. ASA moves their Nationals annually. Is PGF always in the same location? Will they become "Eastern" (ASA) versus "Western" (PGF) Nationals?

I'm not sure if either ASA or PGF will crash and burn. I think there was something like 172 teams at 16U ASA's in Chatanooga albiet most of the SoCal teams were at PGF.

To me it is almost like the SoCal teams are saying we can decide the National Championship without the rest of you. If you want to prove otherwise, come on out here to try.

just my opinion but I'd let them have their event and hope the other 49 states agree.

In exposure terms, our Doom 96 girls had plenty of colleges at their games in Midland.

Head coaches from GA, Lousville, Oregon, Central FL and OSU along with other coaches from KY, Mizzou, Oklahoma were seen at different times during the week checking out their games. Not to mention the ones not at our games or that I didn't see.

Obviously, Premier had plenty of coaches in attendance also, but all I heard when Premier was announced was how "all of the coaches will be going to sunny SoCal, and you'd be foolish to go to the Mid(land)dle of Nowhere for ASA at 14U this year" because no coaches were going to be there. Wrong.

Everything else is just idle speculation.

Plus, I think Stone Cold could have whipped the Nature Boy any day of the week, but he was WWF not WCW....:lmao:

this is exactly why this year's title is tainted a little bit. i know the Fury is a big dog, but this is a list of BIGGER dogs. I bet the Fury don't beat a one.

still, it was fun listening and pulling for the GOLD.

Congrats to the Laser Gold. Outstanding accomplishment to win Ohio's FIRST national championship. As far as PGF vs. ASA I would say the coaches were a plenty at both places as far as over all experience Southern California was incredible. The competition was outstanding and we competed. Just really never got our bats going. But, that is a topic for another thread. SUPER JOB GOLD!!!!!!

. Wow they can play softball north of the Mason Dixon line and east of the Rockies!

Great year for that area of the country when you also consider Indy Crush-Walker won 18A and Newtown Rock (PA) finished 2nd in 18 Gold.

Long drive home and wow was it worth it,

As for your big dogs Cali. sent Power Surge 96 the 12 national champion and the 2nd best team in their state tourney in 2011 and an "A" rated team as listed by your own so called Bracky system. The Surge coaches stated they have battled and defeated all the teams listed. And oh yeah they were sent home on Saturday by lop sided scores.

As for the Gold, Washington, Oregon ,Missouri, Central Florida , Kentucky and several other coaches watched ours games and some attended our morning practices and each and every one of them stated that we (The Gold) would be (in their opinion) top 5 at Premier and compete for any national championship anywhere, and the Gold's Kristen Adkins and Shelby McCombs pitching duo is as good as any they had they had seen on any single team at this age.

The Fury as 12u finished 5th at ASA and 9th last year as 13u, this is one very nice team and no doubt would beat and compete with any team anywhere.

I have said on this forumn many times Woolfman " Be sure brain is engaged be for putting mouth into gear." All I can say is "ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! The Laser Gold made history this week and you post something like that !! WOW!

I saw those Power Surge and Fury teams at ASA 14 Nats last year and they were fantastic. The Power Surge had two pitchers being watched by the top colleges in the country. I also saw all the top CA teams at last year's 14 Nats and the Power Surge and Fury were right in the mix near the top.

Having said all of that, I do agree that the Lasers Gold would have been in the mix for a top spot at PGF. Hopefully they take a shot at PGF next year.
