Yes, the Buckeye Heat 16U (Abraham) is a young team. Most of the girls are entering 10th grade. There are a couple entering 11th grade and a couple entering 9th grade.

GO HEAT!

This just in: Stingrays 12 beat Miami Valley Express, 7-2 to advance to the semi's to play Indy Dreams at 11:30. Lasers Green play strong, coming from behind to gain the semi's as well. Not sure who they play in that game.
Stingrays 16's are up on the Indiana Twisters--Cheryl Cale just hit one to the fence to drive in two runs as I was talking to my DD.

Probably the same way that Wolfpack 14u put Laser Blue in the consolation round......errors and good defense? Just remember friends on any given day any team can beat any other team, you just got to play your best game and want it more and after watching that game ......Wolfpack did.

mikemavs: I agree the Lasers Green are an excellent team, but pretty much every single team at the Compuware tournament is excellent. Of the 32 16-U teams there, I saw only one that was an average travel team and another one was maybe slightly above average. The other 30 were all among the top several teams in their states.

bhoh: As bcatfan said, we are the younger of the three 16-U Heat teams. I think five of our girls are still eligible at 14-U and another two are within a month of that. We're much happier playing at 16-U, first because we have several girls eligible only at 16-U who this team belongs to as much as any, but also because we're getting great competition and plenty of college looks at 16-U that we wouldn't be getting at 14-U.

It toughens the girls physically and mentally to play Compuware and go from the Pitt. Spirit Gold to Grand Slam to the Indiana Twisters to Finesse to the Ohio Wolfpack. It ain't doing much for the coach, though!

I think in the final eight at 16-U you had the Wolfpack vs. Ohio Ice, Stingrays vs. Indiana Twisters, Indy Edge vs. ? and I'm not sure of the other game. The Indy Edge hadn't given up a run as of Saturday night and supposedly had a girl throwing 62-64 who just dominated.

Just got home from compuware. Valley Extreme 12u beat Michigan Outlaws 9-1, Beat Four Seasons Force 11-2, Tied Miami Valley Express 4-4 and lost to Indiana Dream 6-5 and 7-2. Indiana Dream should win the 12u tournament. To answer mikmavs question about the laser green team, all the teams in this tournament were well coached with good players. Any team could lose by 8 runs easy. You don't make errors here and recover easy!!!

Stingrays 14 lost in the finals to the Shockwaves, 1-0 I believe.

Stingrays 16 lost in the finals to a team from Indy. I don't know the score, but I know the Rays ended up playing with either 8 or 9 with a 14 year old sister after one of their pitchers took a sot off her elbow in the quarterfinals.

The Stingrays 12 and 18s lost in the final four.

Most of this is second hand info, so if somehing is off, I apologize

JoeA, I like your comments. Nice to see you playing such a tough schedule. In the end all will get better, including your nerves which will become accustomed to it.

In one of the semi-final games in the 14u division, the Indiana Shockwaves Silver beat the Ohio Wolfpack Black 5-3 in 9 innings (international tie-breaker). Not sure of the other semi-final game.

If I am correct, I think that the final for the Lasers and Compuware game was 11-2. Our pitchers struggled through both games that we played today. Why? I do not know. It was just one of those days. Compuware jumped on us early and we never were able to recover. There were several costly errors, but even without the errors, today belonged to Compuware. Remember guys, these are 12 and 13 year old girls, and anything can happen on any day when the game is played. We will be back on track for the NSA States.

Bold_1 -

unless I'm mistaken, the winner of the "consolation bracket" is not the 3rd place team in the tournament. ?The 2 losers of the "Championship Bracket" semi-finals would tie for 3rd place.

Anyone know what happened in 18U? We left after the Tiger Lillies beat the Stingrays in international tiebreaker? Only teams left standing were Tiger Lillies and Saints in loser's bracket and Finesse waiting to take on the winner?
