Being a newbe to the forum and softball world I would like to make a commit regarding the fence length. I'm sure Joe A. and Johnnies can throw in there expertice (probably mis-spelled) as to the standard or regulation distance and there input. To me (especially college) these fences need to move way back maybe 240-250 down the lines and 260-270 in center. Let the girls play, they are confined to these small fields with all this team speed. Heck alot of high school girls have hit these distances especially with these hi-tech bats available. As far as a team 18U team hitting four straight home runs and the other team scoring zero had nothing to do with the fence length, would 10ft or so really make a difference? Just my two cents.

Rdsherman,

Thanks for the answer about the batter's boxes. It was not a complaint, I was just curious. The fields were very well maintained and the games all started pretty much on time, so I can understand your decision here.

Glad to see that you are willing to adopt a policy to stop the forfeit thing from happening again. HIndsight is always 20/20 and I'm sure you would have done what you could to make it right beforehand had the impact of their decision been clear at the time.

Thanks for the response and we look forward to returning next year. :)

Who won the 16U?

Dodger - it was a 16U team that hit the 4 straight home runs. Unless a post was deleted or I am misreading your post, nobody on here is saying the short fence had anything to do with the outcome of the game. The team hit 4 very solid shots and there was no doubt that any of them were going to clear the fence. Would they have all cleared a 200' fence. No. Would some of them have been caught? Probably. It doesn't make any difference because as you correctly pointed out, until you score in a game, there isn't much else to worry about in terms of why you lost.
