YOU MAKE THE CALL!! - A base coach accidentally yells FOUL BALL!!

here is the scenario.....

2 outs and bases juiced!

ball hit to 3rd base right down the line, like inches..... the 3rd base coach yells "FOUL BALL!" - 3rd baseman hesitates BUT makes the out.

dead ball?

runners advance?

if she hesitates and doesn't get the out... what is the call?

If the umpire judges that the coach calling "foul" hindered the fielder in making a play, then it would be interference. If ruled as interference, then the ball is immediately dead. Because the ball is dead, all play stops. It doesn't matter what the fielder does next- no play can continue during a dead ball.

For interference by a coach, whichever runner is closest to home is out. With bases loaded, the runner on third would be out and the batter-runner is placed on first base, which forces the other runners to the next base.

If the umpire doesn't rule interference, then the play continues as normal, without penalty.
