I would never do it, recruit at a tournament, but it wouldn't bother me if someone tried to recruit some of our players. I know its technically wrong but as this stuff gets more and more competitive, I think it will happen more often. Right or wrong. If a parent/player really feel they should make a move mid season, after factoring in all that will be affected by the move, positively and negatively, to themselves and the teams involved, then go for it. This past weekend in Boardman, one of our parents talked to a parent of a girl who used to play with some of our girls on a different team a few years back. She is currently on another team and we played against them this weekend. She let her know,on her own, that we always have a spot for her daughter. Well, I asked that the parent not do that again as it may be miscontrued as recruiting. Nor do we currently have a spot available unless we expand. Plus I know the coach good enough from the other team that I wouldn't want him to think that was happening. Don't think the other parent took it seriously though anyways. I know its not the same as what mom2dd is saying happened involving a coach, but the point is though, its a touchy subject. I personally feel that none of our players/parents would make a switch mid season. So why worry about who may be recruiting them? Recruit away. And at the end of the season, parents/players should reassess where they are and where they may like to be. I'd expect them to.
In the end, if it happened, is it really that big of a deal? Sounds like the player(s) aren't going to leave the team. Let it go. There is worse that could happen.
